A few moments pass, as you assess the situation. You have Alan head back to the town to gather a cart for the dead. You also instruct him to have a runner sent to the nearest cathedral, most likely the one in Folesden, to fetch a priest. You also have him pass word to the potters to make up some markers for your fallen.

Alan heads off, and you prepare the bodies. You linger on Tor, trying to make him look presentable, but eventually give up. The forest is quiet now, save for a few birds. You grab some of the axes that fell in the conflict, and a few loose coins that you find laying about.

Soon the cart arrives, and you somberly make your way home. You will hold the funeral when the priest arrives, probably in October.

End RP section. Tough rolls there. I would have liked it if Ox had become a good friend to you. Alas, sometimes you roll a 1. Now accepting October suggestions (remember, common man tourney and taxes).

Usually, when there is a bump in the road, people lose interest. I hope that isn't the case here.

I think this hardship will be good in the long run. A rude awakening. We have to pump up our populace. How does one do that? Next chance we get lets set up a mill and start clearing land for new homes and rebuild everyone who helps. That way we don't have to worry about anyone freezing to death and we can get new people. Let's make a sort of apartment complex near the town, providing for the miners and anyone else who comes seeking work but doesn't have a place to go. Get a bigger barracks. Begin work on a palisade. Trade will come, so will traders. These are the things I think we should accomplish in this upcoming year. Have a hearty military, lumberjacks, miners, possibly masons, and maybe even the beginning of a vineyard.

Alright fellas pick it apart.

You left out the tourney.

It should include safe activities that anyone can do, and yet are exciting. Perhaps weightlifting, throwing something, wrestling, stuff like that. Prizes could include kisses from the loveliest maid in town (with her and her father's permission, of course), free food, some mighty fine pottery, or something. All the competitors would join Stone for a drink in the tavern afterwards, and the champions might get a free drink courtesy of Stone.

Thoughts?

Do you really think it will be that much of a hit, this soon after so many deaths and all? It might take peoples mind off of things though... Hmm. I'm in.

That might be rather awkward to ask about, and I really don't want to think what would happen if we fumble that  discussion.
Also, a series of fights will not take people's minds off deaths from battle.

The dice gods will probably be in our favor after how baddly earlier today went. Statistically.

Love gambler's fallacy

On topic - palisade, build palisade and try to not engage  large enemy forces in an open field

It's the month after the harvest, we promised it the month after the harvest, it's going to be increasingly cold and nasty next month, and

Someone brought this idea up earlier. But yeah, it wasn't well-thought-out. Drop it.

Probability doesn't work that way.

Yes, we do. Now back to things less obvious.

Actually, why? we can pay it just fine in crops, and because the cot of the crops is ambiguous, we may get squeezed for more coin than needed. Lets use the coins to get the materials for a still.

Do we have enough crops to pay all our taxes and feed everyone through the whole winter?

Didn't the Count say he wanted to be paid in currency rather than crops this year?

He did. We must check with Irlof and pray that we have enough. Hopefully we can score some at this festival.
