Write, objectively as much as possible, of the history of the battle, using both the date, as best we know it, and also the estimated count lost on each side and a description of the enemies and the battle from your point of view as well as a couple of accounts from our troops.

Recording history is extremely important, plus it will improve our reading and writing, as well as, what the hell else are we going to do in a bitter cold December?

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Year 5, December

December, as predicted, is bitterly cold, but with sparse snowfalls. Lady Marna's belly continues to grow, and you are amazed when you feel your young child kicking through Marna's stomach one quiet evening in front of the fire.

You mull over some plans for fairs in the upcoming year, which you will have to implement when the time rolls around. Your general plan is to make the fall fair more martially oriented, while patronizing the arts with a new spring festival. You also discuss plans of settling the north bank with refugees, and they are agreeable, but again the weather will force them to wait.

Work still has not begun on your tower, due to the invasion and then the cold. You spend most of your days indoors, playing at the sword with Fin. He is a capable opponent, but you feel as if your recent travails in battle have pushed you to a new level. You sorely miss Alan during these contests, but with the weather as it is making travel difficult, you make no progress on finding a replacement.

Your remaining time is spent practicing your letters by recording a history of the sea raider invasion, as best you can recall it. You bring some of the men in to receive accounts of their experiences. Progress is slow, but you feel as if you are putting together a respectable account of the whole brief campaign.

You also have your armor worked on, patched together by your most capable armorsmith. The results are quite impressive, and you can hardly tell where the damage occurred.

You also have your wounds tended to by the town healer, who washes and bandages a gash in your shoulder, and one in your thigh, while wrapping your ribs tightly. You appreciate her ministrations, and feel much better by the end of the month.

So December is slow and uneventful, but you enjoy your opportunity to rest after the craziness of the past few months.

Any big plans for January? The cold shows no real sign of breaking, and several heavy snows fall late in the month, portending another bear of a season.

We should continue to work on the history of the battle. Maybe send out word for a new squire. It would also be a good idea to keep an eye on that dastardly Count.

We should flight a letter to the lords, duke, and king himself requesting their accounts of the battle. Strategy is learned through the lessons of our past.

Also, Mal, what is the name of the place the battle occurred? Was it at the town or outside of it? What is the name, (given by common folk, because I'm sure there is one) to the sea raiders? I want our character to write a chronicle that will be regarded as a scholarly work. Much like Sun Tzu. This will be an ongoing work. Maybe many years in the making. We can write one book at a time though. After it is "finished" have literate monks pick through it to make sure it is proper with no errors and fit for reading, under our scrutinizing eye of course to make sure nothing is drastically changed.

Also, let''s try and squirrel away that cache of weapons in Carshire and get a couple rangers set up in that city, possibly in the military.

Let's get a few of these individuals in the city at a time, slowly building our numbers in the city until we are confident that we could manage a decent blow if push came to shove. Hell, we may even be able to spark rebellions from the inside, while we have a siege going on, let alone open passages for our troops into the city and sabotage supplies.

The perks are bountiful and there is no way the person can be traced back to us, after all, we get refugees all the time.

Of course not. This is directed solely at the count's city. There is absolutely no reason to try to topple small villages.

So after much thought, I am planning on lumping the winter months together into one turn, as nothing much ever happens during them. I would obviously break them down if there were events going on, but that is currently not the case. So consider these suggestions to be for what you will do for both January and February. With March and the return of nicer weather, one month per turn will return.

Let's start a secret chamber in which we worship the dark eldar gods.  That way we can sweep all of our enemies away with our armies of death and madness.
