Hey, if our personal ship is finished, take her(and her brother) for a small cruise down the river!

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

I like that plan.  I think we should also get a blast furnace going, so we can make us some steel.
In addition to that, I think we should order some short swords and tower shields, and start to train our men in their use.

And as for our forces shields, what kind of shield are they?

Umm I thought we were going for skirmishers and light troops. To that end, no to tower shields. Also, let's unify our troop's weaponry by forging franciscas and more axes and issuing them to our troops(while phasing out spears), training them to throw the franciscas before charging a line to break and disrupt formations. Make sure our troops have small circular shields(only slightly bigger than a buckler) for protection.

Also, let's see if one of the jewelers would like to try to learn creating silver crafts to set gems into. He can train up with copper until he feel's confident with using silver, with the bonus being copper crafts can be sold to the townsfolk. We should also see if we can get a jewelcraftshop built(if they already don't have a shop!) so they have a good space to work.

If our boat has finished up, see what commissions we can take on for the shipyard.

also, we need to check up on Marge and see how the wine is going. If we have a good sample, we can use it to toast to our friends and to Marna. If not, select our best ale and do the same.

I was going to suggest upping the shipyard until we can create inter continental vessels. Like a frigate or galleon. (whatever the equivalent of the time may be.) Right now it is just minor ferrys and the like, might take a bit, but it WILL PAAY OFFFF!!

I noticed our rhetoric skill is fairly low, perhaps we could train this by giving speeches to the townsmen every now and then when we accomplish something important? It would help endear us with the people and if we're ever called upon to make an important speech it helps to have practice.

....ummm if you remember we ARE on a river, which means shallow-draft ships only, so no galleons or frigates or any other ocean-faring vessel

Nope didn't remember. Who owns the oceanside land, Mal?

The Duke's town is downstream(IIRC), and I'm pretty sure that one isn't even seaside. The coast is a long way off.

I like taking Marna on a river cruise.
The blast furnace sounds neat, if we can and may build it.
Speeches sound like a good idea.
We haven't been neglecting our mediatory duties, have we?

Finally, incognito is one word.

Damn. Alright, troop unification and build a stable. We should nurture our horse project.

This of course takes psidence, we can unify with steel if we can build the blast furnace and also a stable can wait.

(I don't think we will be allowed to. Wasn't steel discovered in the west in the 17th century? I mean there are other types of steel but they weren't really in Europe IIRC.)

I quite clearly remember that the Conquistadores had steel armor and swords, and that was the 16th century. I'm pretty sure medieval people had steel, too.

The Romans had steel.  In fact, making steel was one of the things that was not lost in the christian dark ages

Yes there were different types but they had different yields and different percentages for the alloy. I don't think the steel you are thinking of is quite the same as what we would be producing and the yield would be very low and require multiple smelts and pattern welding or folding to actually be more than a percentage steel... It would be the same reason we don't ant to make fluted iron armor. Y'know what, I won't over complicate things with smelting precesses and the like. Make steel.
