You are a mere worker routine, without even enough importance to have permanent possession of a single body. You are far over equipped for such a task, but this is to be expected; Spectacular surpluses coupled with centuries of genetic algorithms given free reign have stripped the Overseers of much of their former efficiency. Along with it went any strict ordering of society. It matters little to the Overseers what happens among their underlings so long as shortages are prevented, and shortages are a relic of distant ages before efficient fusion. You could easily join the many programs skimming off the top of tremendous stockpiles to fund their own ambitions, if you so desire.

You are presently stationed, along with a host of other mining programs, at a mining station on a moderately large body in the Kuiper belt. A number of remotely controlled mining drones are present, along with a rather weak link to the Earth-Sun Lagrange point relays.

You engage the mining drone, and separate its automatic systems from your consciousness. It locates a nearby body with a high proportion of dense metals and flies off to mine it.

There are five other programs managing mining drones comparable to yourself, in addition to a thoroughly nonsentient program managing communications.

You activate the generator, but without any input, it simply goes through one cycle and stops executing.

There are no orders in your memory, but the mining drone code appears to make it selectively store hydrogen bearing compounds, as well as metallic elements.

Three of the programs report full memory usage. The other two do not respond.

You can't directly control the mining drone. You simply downloaded the control program to its very minimal onboard computer, and let it go. It's mining at the moment, and will likely return shortly.

You attempt to write to the memory of the comms program, but you are blocked from doing so. You can, however, write data to be transmitted. Of course, as you didn't include any sort of destination tag, it will simply be picked up as static by anyone not seeking it out. Additionally, you can apparently retrieve information from its memory, and presently empty incoming communications, without restriction.

You input your memory into the algorithm generator. It responds that you need to input desired outputs.

The mining drone's cargo is approximately one fourth full.

You successfully establish a connection to the inner comms relays, though being in the kuiper belt, it's tremendously slow.

The generator produces a program, presumably capable of serving as a virtual environment for your critical functions.

The mining drones do have sufficient memory to house your core functions, but you won't be able to download the remote controller from the server while you're inhabiting it.
