Intense bands?
« on: December 31, 2012, 10:35:54 am »

So im an avid listener of Muse (alternative rock) and i was wondering if anyone knew of some bands with a similar level of intesity. Im not looking for screamo/heavy metal, but I do like my music intense. Any suggestions welcome, and thanks.

EDIT: I also like Radiohead and The Chemical Brothers

Check out Scarlet White's Running Through the Storm or Scapegoat's White Horse Crash course? Not exactly what you might look for though :P

For vocal intensity that's still coherent, just about the best I've heard is King Kobra, especially their first three albums. They rock face on guitar, but their percussion is more rock than metal.

Blood Bros: First Blood and Heaven2Hell are great albums, and... wait... there's a third one now! Back In America. They're mixtapes of all the montage music.

Icarus, Borne on Wings of Steel and Icarus II are some of my favorite Kansas songs, and they're pretty intense at times. Not all of their music, but they definitely have their moments.

Franzl Lang has the most technically amazing voice I've ever heard.

Well, almost as good as this one.

Pat Benetar and Roxette come to mind, as well as No Doubt, Live, Talk Talk and Moke. You may also like Midnight Oil.

Audioslave is imho a good alternative rock band.
Seether is also nice. Not exactly Alternative Rock. (Post Grunge/Alternative Metal)
Perhaps the past might appeal to you with Guns N' Roses?
Van Canto - A capella!
I'll stop now, or I'll go and brabble on with (non heavy) metal bands for hours ;P

The point that Svarte was making was that Screamo ≠ Heavy Metal

Well, thanks again guys, except you Svarte.

Ouch, my feelings.

Also, how can you disregard an entire genre of music if what your looking for is a core tenet of said musical genre.

Well I do now appreciate the point you made, but regardless in my experience heavy metal and screamo are just not played in a style I enjoy usually. Feelings were not meant to be hurt... Well kinda.

Intense doesn't necessarily equate to heavy metal and/or screamo, although if you suggest some I would at least listen to it.

And thanks again to all the people suggesting stuff!
