Sekmeth's howl
« on: December 30, 2012, 10:48:39 am »

2122 - Humanity had since colonized the local solar system and has been expanding along the Milky Way at fast peace. Indeed, few planets were hospitable but under the careful watch of one truly bright man, Lucius Beneveer, everything went perfectly. However, the Powers of Earth bit more than they could cew. They rushed the development, spending less and less time terraforming the planets in the craze for richness. More and more problems popped up, colony bubbles wiped out completely by powerful weather phenomena and the fauna and flora claimed back their rightful territory.

2140 - Lucius Beneveer dies and with him, so does colonization. The technology is available but no one is truly confident to put human life at risk.

2145 - The leaders of PoE meet and discuss the grave problem. It is decided that if no expansion will be made they should protect the current colonies at all cost.

2146 - Teams of specialists are formed to counter any mechanical problem of Lucius' design.

2148 - Earth has received no word from Sekmeth-12's colony for more than 4 months. A group was sent out to seek the problem and fix it.

A rescue group numbering... almost zero sent to another planet on the other side of the galaxy equipped with mismatched crappy 20th century weapons, only optional armor and first aid kit and no survival supplies?

Meyer, you?

The technicians buckle in their seats as the tiny agile ship roars through the upper atmosphere. The group can clearly see a small glowing bubble , hosting a city with tall towers and massive factories. You hear the pilot hitting numerous buttons in panic as the cheap ship's stabilization system kicks in.  "Sekmeth-12 AF, do you copy ?" "Indeed, identify yourself please." you hear the pilot sighing in relief. "Hornet#521 PoE, requesting bubble access for landing." the assistant on the other side of the line seems to have just laughed, but you ain't quite sure. This ship's radios are not known for quality. "Permission granted on Shepperd Kappa." the pilot tinkers around with the mapping system before acknowledging the information and heading for landing. A horrifying metal screech echoes through the space ship as it smashes into the Lucius bubble. "What the fuck ?!" screams one of the pilots. "Sekmeth-12 AF, what is going on with your fucking-" the ship tumbles down alongside the bubble, one of the wings snapping off. The ship crashes just outside the city. None of the technicians seem to be injured, the pilots too seem to be healthy. The ship's internal massive bolt doors gush open with a delightful steam sound as the ship robot advises the crew to prepare for the pressure shift accordingly. The technicians strap on their space suits and enter the room, following the procedure step by step.

Upon further inspection the two pilots reckon they could fix the ship by the time you are back from the hub city as the wrecked wing has landed not far away. They ask you to question the motives of the Air Operations HQ while at it.

The entrance to the city is protected only by a two meters high wall, surrounding it from all sides and a small guard building and . From the sound of it there is no activity in the city.

At first sight the planet seems to be a cold desert.

Open the guard building door, hack it if needed.

Wait, first what is the plan once in the guard building? I don't think some most likely heavily armed guys will like some people breaking in.

No sounds from the city mean the guard building is empty. They won't keep it staffed if something big gone down that sliented the city

"Well, Bliz, whaddya think?...No, not now. That's for later...Oh, good idea, I need a flare gun. First, though..."

The wall's only two meters high? That's only a bit taller than a person. Ignis will take a running jump at the wall and grab the top of it before pulling himself over.
