"Mr. Woodsman? I have a message for you."
"Thank you."

Waljan read the message thrice, before putting it into his pocket. The remainder of the day held no untoward events.
The following day, he went to meet with Lord Hvítr.

To withdraw, to cower or flee at the sight of this Hag would be to lose face. Still, many of those in attendance did just that, during her speech. Grimmyr, expression stoic and grim, did not. His hand did shift, however, from lap to hilt, gloved fingers wrapping about the hilt of his greatsword- too large to draw with one hand- as if it provide some leverage by which he might stand.

As she queried him, he leaned forward slightly, now, eyes narrowing at the last two or three pronouncements. It took the warrior-who-would-be-King a moment to pry himself free of thought, or as free as he could get it, and reply.
"She has returned to the Gods," he replied solemnly, if not a bit distantly, to the Hag. If he would not go far, on who would the carrion birds feed?
Himself?

Try to persuade the Loremaster
Return to Koelling (This will be the stronghold name)

[3] The Loremaster accepts with a frown and a disapproving sigh to name you as a Pretender. However, he does not send forth messengers to any of the clans informing them of the change - gathering votes will be problematic, in such a situation...

Move out with hunting party towards two clans south of Veordan. Under guise of hunting trip try to scout out the land there and get all info on those clans.

Two clans share the highlands with you: the Hankals and the Tharios. [1, 4] The Tharios are quite friendly with you and have often cooperated with your clan; the Hankals, however, are a different bunch. Their lands are near the Old Wild, and they have often meddled and bred with foreigners from the east and the south; these days, they have little in common with Highlanders, let alone with Keldars.

(Charisma I) Send messengers to Thunderpaw, the two coastal clans nearest them, and the clan furthest north offering a part in a coalition of the Northlands against the raiders.
Various information requested. (See above)
(Charisma I) A messenger is sent to the Aldoryl, to inquire as to whether or not they are in need of any assistance. If all is well, they are informed of Valdyrbol's plan to deal with the raiders and offered a share of the honor. Another is sent to the clan immediately to the north, with the same questions and offers.

E: (Charisma I) Sending a messenger to the port directly south of Thunderpaw, as well. Also requesting info on them. Sorry, didn't notice them on the map at first.

Spoiler: Holdings (click to show/hide)
((Alas, charisma only applies when you speak in person.))

[2,4,2,2,5] Only two of your messengers return. [1,2] They inform you that when they approached the doors of the strongholds, arrows were fired at them. While this may seem alarming, one must keep in mind that the raiders have been going hard at the minor clans in the area recently; it is very possible that the clans simply resolved to firing on sight at any possible raider they see. The ones who did not come back may very well have been ambushed on the way there too. Still, these initial signs are no encouraging.

Go to the bay, and begin looking for the whereabouts of these raider captains or where their next raid is most likely to happen.

[5] You reach the bay without any trouble. It would seem there are absolutely no raiders in the area you've reached - [6] in fact, from what some of the reports coming from the east seem to indicate, it seems you're on the wrong side of the bay altogether! You could go by land, and risk being ambushed in a raid; you could also go by sea, if you find a boat, and save yourself some time...

Go whalehunting.

[3] You go whale hunting. After many days of hard adventuring at sea, searching from east to west the fabled whales of the deep ocean, you are illuminated by a sudden thought: whales have not gone near the kingdom in nearly a hundred years - they were nearly hunted to extinction long before. The only way to catch any would be to go on high sea, and you don't have ships fit to do that.

Graharg returns to his stronghold and quietly sends forth scouts to the two nearby minor clans, hoping to gleam information on their numbers and position.

Graharg also searches for a skilled tactician within his clan's warriors he might be able to learn under.

[4,6] The Beryads and the Aryads are two clans which were separated long ago, and both are very friendly to you - the Aryads, in fact, have often intermarried with your clan and hold close bonds with your people. While going as far as to call it an alliance would be exaggerating, deep friendships lies between your two clans.
[5] It would seem you are lucky. There's a man in your clan who would be willing to teach you some tactics - an old veteran of many wars. You do not know his price, but surely it wouldn't be too high...?

The Raiders(Heavy Ambusher) are to go into the forests to the south of Tho'ur(my fortress), near Kasterac Tower and prepare an ambush on the north paths. Arct sends goads, insults and taunts to Kasterac by way of messenger. He then readies the yellow Horsemen(Personal Guard Heavy II Calvary) and gets ready to intercept any regiments that make it through the forest. The Heavy Ambushers are to, well, ambush any troops coming up from Kasterac, or just do hit and run raids if no such troops emerge.
[5] You go into position undetected. [1] Nothing comes out of Kasterac, however. Not even replies to your insults. The guards upon the walls are silent; the lord does not show himself.

Alas! His voice had been heard! Darros was overjoyed with the success of his travel to the Capital, and soon ordered a feast in his Great Hall in Koelling.

Yes, men! Soon all of Keldared will be chanting the name of the Koellath Clan!

The drinking went on in the halls and Darros celebrated with his newly mustered warband in true Koellath manner, on the morning of the following day, Darros woke up with a headache and a more resolute mind, he remembered of all the other Keldars who had their own fortress close to Koelling. The peaceful Stone Wolf clan and the other minor clans surrounding Koelling.

He ordered his men to gather in his wooden hall and to form a small party bearing a message to the Stone Wolf Clan.

After that had been sorted, he spoke his plans openly to the men gathered in his hall

The Great Clans are honourable and ancient, yet the minor clans are mere whelps! We should look to them not with eyes of friendship, we must instead look at them like the farmer looks at the goat! They are tools and we shall use them! Gather the scouts and let's find out their weakeness!

Scout the area surrounding Koelling (my castle) for information on the minor clans

Milenas was worried about the news of raiders. Fortunately however, his people had always stood vigilant against threats from the seas. He had great hope that he would be able to capture several of the raider captains. The prize money would go a long way towards his future plans.

Send men under the flag of the Sea-Guard to each neighboring minor clan-hold(Valdrim and Kaldrim). Request a meeting in a neutral location in a week, that we might discuss the threat of the raiders, and how best to deal with them.

Rendezvous with the veteran, asking about his immediate availiability and proceedings.

Try and glimpse more of the culture and political situation of the Baryads and Aryads, as well as whether they had any more intimate ties with my own clan, searching for something that might allow for for Graghar to unify the three clans.

The envoy's message was not exactly positively received by the leader of the stone wolves. The end result was the envoy being sent back, tarred and feathered along with a simple message being sent back with him.

Scout the warriors of both the minor neighboring clans.

The envoy arrived in the middle of the night, the odd sight of that was enough to attract many eyes in Koelling. Darros himself was awoken from his slumber by his advisors, only to be engulfed with anger by the response.

This is an insult! Damned snakes! They will regret this one day.

Darros decided for a response; this time it wasn't a party, but a single messenger carrying a very laconic response

Arathor had an idea, as to how unite Highlands under Veordan.

Still in the southern Highlands, Veordan hunters were readying. After some sport and several deer killed. arathor was ready to execute his plan.

"Voric, I want you to take all of our men and prepare an attack on Hankals. They are not Keldars in blood or custom, we will not have any trouble or grief given if we slay them. Wait for me to return and we will attack. You can also scout out their defenses, but if your position becomes revealed, lay waste to their land but do not assault their keep until I return. Also, avoid pitched battle."

With command of his men given to his most trusted lieutenant, Arathor set out for Tharios hold, where he arrived with few of his men and hunted game on their backs to offer to their neighbours and to seal a pact. Veordans were not looking to make war on those who were such good neighbours.

Hand command of clan troops to Voric, to carry out their mission as per my orders. Head to Tharios hold with my hunted game and offer it ot the clan head as gift and request meeting.

As you wish Clanchief...if they find us they will pay dearly.

Scout out the Lands of the Hankals, if they notice us retreat.

Go by land to the other side of the bay, keep to wooded areas and stay alert for any signs of these raiders.

Gragrar had since rested and returned to his throne room to await his visitor. "Yes? What is it you wished to see me about?"

"Sir, I was wondering if there was any way I could use my skills in your service. As you may know, in addition to being a moderately skilled Wild Mage, in my more foolish years, I defeated some bandits, and more recently I served in the army as a soldier and then an officer. My tour of duty being long over, I left the service once the old king died. I was hoping I could serve you in some aspect, to use those skills I've developed. Would this be possible?"
