why the hell would you ever want to do that?
a noble dying is one of the best things that can happen to a fort
quite frankly the longer you go without one the better

idk how he message went exactly but by it seems as if the miners are getting hit by the same rocks they are mining. For instance, I am mining obsidian and I will get messages that my miners are getting hit by spinning obsidian rocks

And you're using the [d]ig designation and nothing else?

Dwarves with no preferences for items don't make mandates or export bans. They'll get cranky about other dwarves' living arrangements, but all you have to do is stuff their rooms with expensive crap until you have almost all the quality levels available for non-noble dwarves you like. Weapon traps are a pretty good way of collecting a lot of wealth in one tile.
