You look over your books.  You pick out two copies that could provide some inspiration.

You pick out your copy of “Never Underestimate Civilization.”  This 22 page essay is about the Nation of Hailing, a human nation to your northwest, across the Beige Music-Mountain range.  This cruel writing has a very serious tone to it.  The original was authored by the Nation of Hailing deity of trickery and treachery, KulWebbedhex the Night of Confusion, last year.

You also pick out your copy of “The Dwarf: Before and After.”  This 30 page essay is about the master-apprentice relationship between Human Necromancer MapoGroovehope over the Dwarf Necromancer ŮshrirLaborshores.  The writing bubbles over with cheerfulness.  The original was written byŮshrirLaborshores 249 years ago.

You catch the travel rations Pidud tossed to you, after you finished rolling up the bed roll.  As you begin to eat, he responds by saying, “I don’t know.  What I do know is that it was the second to last dark tower destroyed by the elves of the Luxury of Romance in its strike against the Weak Wickedness 164 years ago.  I’m surprised that they didn’t send us to Thundercruelty or Sludgemenaces.  You know, the ones that inexplicably collapsed in the same year.”

As (difficulty:12  16-1=15) you climb down, Asob says, “Something has happened at the pass between The Axe of Combinations and The Beige Music-Mountain ranges.  The druid has summoned us to the pond so that we can observe what is occurring with his scry spell.  We have to hurry, if we want to see.”  When you reach the ground, (Difficulty: 11 7+5+2=14)  You detect nothing out of the ordinary, besides what Asob has already said.

You climb out of bed and get to work, after clocking in with the guild master, NomalTrumpetcopper.  You begin construction upon a (what are you working on?) that will be completed in (will be answered when you answer the question above.) hours.

You dress yourself in your clothing, and go to the main dining hall.  There are around a dozen dwarves and about ten goblins inside.  They are idly chatting, waiting for work, or eating.  You grab some elk bird roast and sit across from you dwarven friend MebilFootchannels and next to your goblin friend, NakoDikedemon.  “So Muktd, what are you going to attempt today,” asks Mebil, after he swallows the plump helmet he was chewing.

You walk out into the brisk air and go to the main keep.  You keep a respectful distance as Acik finishes speaking to the king.  He comes over and tells you, “We need to move SnodubFootfiends.  We will be giving him to the dwarves in exchange for the long abducted son of a lord.  I want you and the new recruit to escort the goblin to the hamlet Bluecat.”

You return to reading “The Secret of Adamantine.”  You (difficulty:9   1+1+1+4=7) do not gain any new insight into the mysterious material.  (Difficulty:15   3)  You have no futher books on the subject and do not know of any more, so any new insights must be gained through experimentation on this rare material.  You turn to your laboratory bench and look upon the samples you could afford: one piece of raw adamantine, two vials of adamantine thread, and one wafer.

You slowly slide down the branch, (difficulty:12   6-1=5) but it breaks causing you to fall onto the bare earth with a thud.  You got cut on the lower left leg by a twig and are now bruised on your elbows.
