So I've noticed something recently, not sure if bug or what.

So for each empire's ships, you have the escorts, then you've got the frigates (I think?) that are roughly the same size.  After that, they start making cruisers and bigger and bigger ships.  I've noticed that I can take down cruisers MUCH QUICKER then escorts and frigates.  Seems like the smaller ships have more health or something, they can usually take 6-8 fusion missiles but a cruiser can only take 2 before it dies.  Anyone else noticed this?

Tnx: I think the ships you're talking about are "colony builder" or "colony ship" or something.

So I bought this game yesterday, I like it a lot so far, but in the long run it's gonna be very very repetitive. I'm trying to convince a friend to buy it and come play with me... Also I think the game lacks a lot of cool features it could have

edit: It's true that it plays a lot like space rangers 2

How does this compare to Transcendence?

Nah its not the colony ships that stay idle by a planet or sometimes heads off to colonize.  It says "cruiser" or "battlecruiser" on it.  I'm thinking it has something to do with their tech levels or the way they outfit their ships.  They don't seem to have any shielding and sometimes even no armor or shielding.

How does this compare to Transcendence?

Better, more zoomed in, more choice, but feels more arcade-y.

Well, just got the demo and blew through 3 hours. Theres plenty of gameplay in that demo so anyone curious its worth a DL. I might even buy this one. I think its Soldaks best so far, its more of the same from them, just done better than previous offering...and in space.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

Yeah I got this and was pretty disappointed. It feels more like an MMO then anything, what with the primary focus of the game after starting being "become less shit at stuff" and you do this by flying into swarms of things that just illustrate how shit you are.

Then you get some levels and are dominating the sector or whatever but nothing really better then what you have drops so you pretty much have to climb that sliding scale of crappiness THROUGH MULTIPLE PLAYTHROUGHS to feel like an actual force in the world.

I played it like a year ago and it was very weird. In later (like 50+) levels you starting to get gear you can't get earlier which completely changes gameplay. Like leech something, which allow you to simply spam infinite lazors never dieing... And all Soldak games feel absolutely same. And while at first you incredibly hooked after some time you realise that it's same over and over again. Complete lack of variety. Just bigger numbers.

I played this a while when it came out, it was pretty enjoyable for the first one or two rounds, although it definitely felt more arcade than simulation. The big problem it suffers from though I believe is that as you start new games you kind of get what gogis mentioned before.

It's kind of fun for a while but it doesn't go anywhere from there.

How does this compare to, say, Escape Velocity Nova (EV Nova?)?

There is a demo, it's reasonably sized for a modern game. Give it a try. I'd say EV Nova was better personally, but these are very different games.
