Dealing with a Troll
« on: December 24, 2012, 12:22:24 pm »

Pretty much what the Title says, I just caged a Troll from a cavern and I am completely clueless as to what to do with it. An elven caravan has just arrived, so I'm thinking about releasing it on them.

Any ideas for some FUN?

Pit it in your jail to keep the inmates company.

Well, trolls aren't tamable, so I'd suggest 3 things.

1. Give wooden goods to the elves, making them mad, and send the troll at them so you can say that you trolled the elves.
2. Set up a sacrificial pyramid in the name of Armok and send the troll down to please the Blood God.
3. Kill the damn thing.

Transfer the troll to a non-wooden cage and sell it to the elves.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

You could start a zoo of random animals
Or you could use all your captured animals in some sort of trap or death pit.

I'm thinking of either surrounding the trade depot with bridges and releasing the troll inside there, or throwing the troll into a pit and feeding goblins and the like to it.

YOU DECIDE.

Would the troll even attack goblins?

If it's not tame, I doubt the troll would care if it was a goblin or a dwarf.

Since the troll is a wild animal and not a member of the goblin civilization, it should. Trolls, even with their size, tend to fall pretty easily to small creatures with pointy pieces of iron. It'll still be fun to watch, though!

trolls are actually dwarves that were captured by the goblins and fed steroids.  make it your mayor.

Okay, so I need to add 4 more Troglodytes to the list. Damn my good cavern trapping skills.

Can anyone tell me how to change cages to non-wooden ones?

You can't change an object's material, but you can make metal cages at the forge. If you want your mechanics to use other materialed(is that even a word?) cages, the only thing you can do is forbid all the wooden ones, since they grab the nearest one to them.

I need to know how to change an animal from one cage to another. Is this possible?

Also, I just caught a Blind Cave Ogre. At this rate, I don't think there'll be enough room for my dwarves...
