Demon Hunters
« on: December 23, 2012, 11:13:03 pm »

"You are now a member the Darkshield organization, you no longer exist according to any government, and do not be fooled. You are entirely expendable, we will not hesitate to have your life ended if you compromise Darkshield, and you will not get backup except for the most extreme of cases.” The large man in front of you crosses his arms. His brown hair down to his shoulders, and a large silver axe strapped to his back along with a rifle at his side.

You are a new member of the Darkshield organization, being either a Solinat, Myram, or a Cytan.
Now, here is an explanation as to what these are.
Solinats are trained in the old ways of demon hunting, using old weapons.
Myrams are the modern day hunters, using modern day weaponry.
Cytans use technology of a forgotten age, one where humanity was higher than it is even today, where the weapons are of energy.

Demons are not like the traditional understanding of most of the populace. We shall start in the basics.
Each plane of existence is much like a ladder, where the middle would be designated with the number 0, and if you go higher, the number raises, and lower, the number would decrease. We, as humans rarely can go higher on the ladder, and those higher on the ladder rarely interact with us. Those higher on the ladder are referred to as celestials. The last interaction with the higher planes was 15000 years ago. So, for simplicities’ sake, we refer to the “negative” layers, as the positive number. Thus, we refer to the first demon layer as such, and second, third, fourth, and etc. Now, even though we are referred to as layer 0, we are more aptly classified as layer -1, being technically demons. Now, each layer has a distinctive look to it, our layer being the only one of its type. The reason we are the neutral layer, but still the demons, is because the demons won that old war with the celestials, and were able to claim the human race. Don’t you feel special? The celestial and demon war was all over us. Now, as a demon travels to other layers, higher or lower, they must be powerful. A demon cannot enter a celestial layer, period. Only powerful celestials can travel to our plane. The stronger a demon gets, the more altered its visage is compared to the previous form. Therefore, a demon that stands 10 feet tall, but has no discernable features is most likely weak, but a demon that stands 5 feet tall, though has blades growing from them and energy leaking off of them is a fearsome opponent indeed. Humans are entirely different, as our appearance will stay generally unaltered. At most, maybe someone’s eye-color will change. Therefore, an 8th layer demon in the 7th layer is weaker than a 4th layer demon in the 1st layer. A 9th layer demon in layer 0, our home, is something to be feared, as there are only 9 layers in each direction.

About the Darkshield organization, they are named after the founder, Jacob Darkshield. He was the first one in 7000 years to discover (and rediscover) several methods to enter other layers, learning about the demons instead of outright hunting them. Learning that not all were evil and that we could learn form them.

There are two types of demons, Ichor demons, and blood demons. These classifications are focusing on how they fight, and what they use to do so. Blood demons use physical means, commonly growing blades and spikes to deal damage. Ichor demons are more magic based, firing off bolts of energy and breathing fire, though blood demons can also breathe powers, but not as frequent. (think attack, and special attack in pokemon.)

There are 6 stats,

Strength (STR) How strong someone is
Constitution (CON) How much damage you can take
Agility (AGI) How deft you are, and how good you are at card tricks and the like
Intelligence (INT) How smart you are
Willpower (WIL) How well can you handle the sight of horrors, or a demon tapping into your mind.
Charisma (CHA) How well you deal with others.

When you start, you begin with 18 stat points. You may allocate these however you wish, but here is the template for how stats work.
3 points is average, no bonus, no penalty. At 6 points, you get a +1 bonus to your rolls of that type, at 9, you get +2, and continuing in that pattern. At 4 points, there is a 1/3 chance of getting a +1 bonus, 5 points is a 2/3 chance. At 7 points, a 1/3 chance to get +2 instead of +1, and it goes on like that.

Weapons are fairly simple. Melee weapons are STR based for rolls, while ranged are AGI based. Each type of hunter can use different types of weapons, being trained in them.
You are to be granted a weapon only while going on a mission, depending on the mission. For a negotiation mission, you are most likely going to be permitted only daggers and pistols, while on the more violent types, you will be granted rifles, crossbows, battleaxes, and others.

This alright?  I know the skills are pretty low, I decided to try making him pretty much useless at combat.  Just to see what diplomacy could do.

My plan is to have a sort of queue, where pretty much a group of people can make their characters, but only 5 will be able to go on each mission. In short, yes, there is still room.

Name: Buan ó Cionaoith
Hunter type: Solinat
Str: 2
Con: 6
Agi: 2
Int: 3
Wil: 5
Cha: 0
Why did you become a member of Darkshield?: Buan was always a loner, but it got worse when he started to see... something. A small creature that never stopped watching him. By the age of thirteen it was talking to him every night, whispering away horrible things. By fifteen it was grooming him to be a servant. By the age of eighteen it tried taking complete control. Buan fought it off, but the fallout of the event attracted the attention of Darkshield.

EDIT: Goddamnit.

Don't worry dude, you reserved.

Though, in the future, character sheet is usually edited into the reserve post for conciseness.
Don't think it entirely matters though.

Wait, we can have 0s for stats?

You can in most games I think, but it probably means -1 to any roll using that stat at least.

Yeah, Buan will not be getting along with people well. Bonus points to anyone who can find out what his name means.
