Spontaneously exploding beer
« on: January 08, 2008, 03:05:00 pm »

I just had what looks like a huge explosion in a large beer storage area, smoke everywhere, five dwarves dead, several more injured. I'm at a loss as to how it started - I sadly have no magma, and there were no critters in the area save a couple of cats. Does beer just spontaneously explode catch fire sometimes, or has something clever happened?

have you had any dragon attacks? or anything on fire in the fort ever before this?

Is it a scorching map? though it should not matter if the storage was underground... was it?

This the first fire I've seen at all. No dragon attacks - a titan attacked a few seasons ago but no other megabeasts. It's a temperate map - a bit too calm, actually...

thanks for the help.

That's what happens when you have too much alcohol.  ;)

Were any of the dead dwarves on break when it happened?

Urist! how many times must I tell you? No smoking in the pantry!  :D

Oh man, I thought the thread title said "Spontaneously exploding bear."

I'm so disappointed...

How can a stockpile of booze going up in a massive fireball POSSIBLY be disappointing?

Well, you would be disappointed if it were your beer exploding. But someone else's beer? Highly entertaining!

because a spontaneously exploding bear would be one notch above exploding beer, even if your own  :)

But uhh... to each their own? haha

The finest dwarven alchohol can be set alight by just swearing loudly next to it.

Then how come my dining room dosen't look like a warzone? what with the sieges, the snatchers that got lucky, and the bronze colossus, I would expect to see a lot more exploding booze around.

I just *love* the way everyone refers to his ingame stuff and dwarves as "their" dwarves and booze. Becoming attached to ASCII characters is weird, but just say that out loud and my marksdwarves will pepper your chest.   :D
