"We better be quick putting on our armour, the fortress is under attack"

"I'm not going to risk my life for a sock"

"Wow what impressive looking fortifications, I better stand next to them when firing my crossbow at enemies so they're effective"

""Sorry doc, I know you're trying to treat my broken finger, but I was thirsty and no-one was around so I nipped out for a drink"

"So what exactly do you want me to stud with these diamonds?"

"Don't worry about that monster, there's no way it can reach us"

"I should probably go get the wounded people from the outside so they don't get killed by wandering oxen."

Oh look, I have a steam account.
Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

"Ah, dammit, some stupid kitten got attached to me... shoo, or I'll make you into a hat!"

"I know we're just civilians, but if we all jump on that one goblin, we can definitely kill him."

"Hm, wet stone. How unsurprising. I am digging under a river, after all."

"Large gems should totally get stuck in bins. Wouldn't want some lame kobold running off with them."

"I should probably stay inside. Someone said there's goblins outside and we're closing the main gates." ...said no Dwarf Child ever.

What would it be like to live in a world that was copy/pasted? Would we even notice? If not, how many times have we switched celestial harddrives or whatever?

"Y'know, maybe it would be a good idea to actually get some sparring sessions in instead of watching the lesson on how to get yourself killed."

"Ya know, it might be a good idea to not go outside into the deadly rain outside for anything. At all. No, really guys, that stuff will kill you."

"Harvest is coming... guess I'd better take care of all my personal business before then, since I'll be to busy to do anything else once the crops are ready."

Children you rescue shouldn't behave like rabid beasts.  I guess your regular companions shouldn't act like rabid beasts either.
I think that's a little more impossible than I'm likely to have time for.

"Y'know, that giant sponge in the river is just a sponge. It can't move, and I ought to be quite safe if I just take a drink a couple of yards upstream. After all it beats dehydration!"

"Also, as it is only a sponge, I probably shouldn't empty my quiver into the river shooting at it. It's just common sense!"

Alas, the life of a Queen is a lonely one. Do the things with the whatsit."

"An alert! I must stop drinking immediately and return to the safezone."

"I think I'd be happier without gloves than I am wearing these tattered ones. I should throw them out."

"Goblins are approaching! I'd better hurry up with firing the ballista."

"Always look both ways before you cross the tracks, Little Urist."

"I know the meat stockpile is closer, but I should probably go get some royal jelly to cook with instead, since meat can be eaten raw."

"The Overseer wants to trade away a wild animal! I'd better make sure its cage is locked before I take it to the depot."

"What's that weird white stuff on that crossbow bolt? I'd better put on some gloves before handling it, and wash them afterwards."

"Hah! I'm not going to panic because those goblins don't have any ranged weapons to hit us through the fortifications with. I'll keep firing at them with the catapult then."

"You know maybe standing here in this cavern while I'm off-duty is a bad idea."

"I think I should give the stragglers some time to get in before I seal this area off."

"I should definitely get rid of those corpes from the animals dying of hunger, that sounds like a wonderful idea."
"You know, I think I should immediately butcher them when they get here. I have my shop open, and the order's there."

Socks inspire the same sort of emotions in dwarfs that Helen of Troy inspired in the Achaean Greeks. Although it is said that Helen's face launched a thousand ships, socks have surely launched a million ultimately-fatal Store Owned Item tasks.

Nidilap likes Adamantine, Bituminous Coal, Garnets, Cats for their aloofness, Dwarves for their stupidity, and Swords for their Spikes and edges. When possible, he prefers to eat pizza, ramen noodles, and sushi. He absolutely detests elves and spiders. He needs MTN DEW to get through the working day.

A medium- sized creature prone to great ambition, but only when he feels like it.

"I'm fine without a bit of beer for a while. I know that some more is being made and there is no reason to throw a fuss."

"You know, my bed wasn't really that valuable. I don't think I will over-react and throw a tantrum over it."

"Maybe I shouldn't get depressed that my best friend was just executed. I mean he did just attack 3 other dwarves while in a tantrum."

"I know three other dwarves just threw tantrums, but I don't think I should. Life isn't perfect, but at least we still have nice food and statues."

As you can probably guess, one of my fortresses is in a tantrum spiral. These are all things that happened, in order.
