« on: November 24, 2007, 09:21:00 am »

ok i set my legendary stone crafter to not do any of the normal hauling jobs and cleaning and stuff like that and ive devoted an entire workshop to him yet he still stands around showing the "No Job" status and then decides to go harvest some plants...obviously im trying to get him to constantly work at his workshop but its not working, what am i doing wrong?

You can always set the workshop profile to only allow him to work in a specific workshop. You can access that by 'q'-selecting his workshop and pressing 'P'. You can then specify which dwarves are allowed to work in a workshop, either by name, or by skill level.

Since he went harvesting means that you have the 'All dwarves harvest' option activated under the 'O'rders menu. You might not want to switch that off unless you have enough farmers.

Check what skill is needed for the queued jobs. Some of them are tricky, such as trapping being needed to build animal traps in a carpenter's workshop rather than the woodworking skill.

Stonecrafting is ONLY used for the stuff under the "rock" menu at the craftsdwarf's workshop, as well as probably rock shortswords.
