It seems to be Interplay trying to muscle back into the RPG genre by using an old name with good memories attached. There's rumours all over the place but it seems there's only two members from the original Black Isle studio. I doubt they've managed to get a D&D licence let alone anything to do with the old BI games.

Yeah, I noticed that. Aren't several of the people who worked for the old Black Isle studio working either on doing the BG:EE's, or part of the new setup for Project Eternity that did its own kickstarter?

A lot of Black Isle people migrated over to Obsidian, yeah. The fact that they don't even mention any old Black Isle members by name isn't really a good sign.

Also the fact that they're asking for money to produce a prototype for a game.  You don't get the game, or even a prototype for chipping in.

Everything on that site is so vague it reads like a cult recruiting pamphlet.

Wasn't PV13 the codename of a fallout MMO that never launched? It certainly sounds like that's the franchise they want to cash in on. Despite (as far as I know), you know, not owning it anymore.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

I thought it was just something like "Van Buren"

I know the founder of Interplay still had rights to the fallout MMO, at least of a few years ago.

Van Buren was the codename for Fallout 3 (back when Black Isle was making it before the crash and burn).
On a side note, Jefferson was the codename for Baldurs Gate 3.
