FPS death why?
« on: December 21, 2012, 01:18:06 am »

Maybe I'm wrong, but FPS death shouldn't be happening in adventure mode.

Especially on a newly genned world no matter where the hell I am. Is there any way in hell to get more than 4 FPS?

No seriously, I'm getting 4FPS. How the fuck do I train swimming if I can't move?

Yeah but it's stupid because there's nothing you can do. Can't chop trees (I'm convinced that affects things), and if you have to go through a river, you have to go through a river.

Fortunately FPS death is only temporary in adventure mode. I get huge FPS drops when crossing big rivers or in cities with lots of merchants and items, not to speak of sewers. As soon as you leave the area that's causing the lag, FPS goes back to normal.

As for swimming - I sometimes get stuck and have to stand up or lie down a few times. Might have to do with flowing water, in lakes or oceans it seems better. Flowing water is the worst FPS eater along with critters/items/pathfinding in cities.

Choping trees do nothing... And I'm pretty sure you can't chop trees in Adventure Mode. You can burn them, however.

Though burning stuff might make your FPS drop even more.

Eh. I've only had FPS death on Adventure Mode when this version was first released.

When your FPS (Frames-Per-Second) drops from a normal height to molasses trying to climb Mount everest.
