Disappointebd Hotline: Miami lost the community choice... Is Sim City 4 the best sim city? I haven't played any of them in ages..

It is considered the best of the Sim City series. Might also be the most complex, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, specially around this forum. :P I do recommend some mods, specially one that I forget the name to improve the transit system.

That said, I'm not entirely familiar with the many other city simulators that try to do something similar to Sim City, so I can't say if there's a better one out there.
Cities XL
Expand on that. It occasionally goes on sale, but I never paid much attention to it. Better than SC4? How so?

Ok here goes I'm not to good at this stuff but...
More complicated for one there resources so you can make you city base off selling oil or the like and if you make a city in a colder place farming will give you less food, you can trade with your other city so you can make a whole global economy, you can also have ski resorts or beach resort and run off tourist. There also different types of citizens "depending on their education, their expectations and their activities.", It looks nicer as well if that matters.
Also not made by EA so there that also no expansions you have to buy to make the game playable.

OP finally updated for December the 22nd.

Yeah, I'm also finding this sale not as much of a money sink. At least, so far.

Cities XL is pretty decent, but the messed up trading mechanics make it drop a few brownie points.

Post updated with December 23rd deals. Still not really seeing any money grabs for me, though.

This sale is all kinds of weak-sauce. No special achievment-related stuff, not even the stupid coupon thing. And all the deals are either been-there-done-that or just plain crappy.

And it doesn't help that each sale we see the same old games, year after year (multiple times a year even) at the same old prices off. Combined with the fact that some of these dailies and flash deals are really lame. Used to be that a daily was like 75% at least. Now you get 33% off and stuff.

Doom 3 was in a flash deal the other day, and it was still like 10 quid. For Doom 3. I know it's the re-release thing, but c'mon. Game is well old. Cut the price down so people who allready own Doom 3 will impulse buy it, this isn't rocket science.

Cool, Anno 2070 is on sale, maybe I'll buy it and finally use those nifty ark upgrades and FUCK YOU UBISOFT AND YOUR 3 ACTIVATIONS LIMIT.

Quote from: From the Steam forums
You start off with three activations, in addition to the one you use up one in your initial installation. So technically an uninstalled copy of Anno has 4 activations.
Unlimited OS reinstalls
Unlimited GFX changes/installs
Unlimited RAM changes/installs
Upgrading a system
As you usually replace the CPU and an accompanying new architecture mobo, and maybe throw in a new SSD, all of this counts as one activation used up. The new GFX card and RAM is ignored.
Once you reach 0 activations, in 30 days you automatically get 1 more, each month until you reach 4 again.

If you need more, you have to use a phone to call Ubisoft support. You will either get more activations without hassle, or you will get them with some hassle.

I can't see many people running up against the limit.

That's why I am not buying Ubisoft games anymore.

Sad thing is there are rumours Ubisoft going to acquire THQ. Please fuck no.

I’m seeing Skyrim and the DLC marked down 50% and listed as a flash sale despite not appearing on the main page.  Is this an error or is Steam putting games on sale and not informing us?

Steam always did that. They simply can't put every sales on the main page. Check the specials page, or easier, add interesting games to your wishlist (you should be warned by mail/steam app, when they get on sales now).
