So, Dark Souls without a controller. Worth 20 bucks?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Use the $20 you saved and get a controller.  :P

You have to edit the key bindings to your liking I guess.

I've heard some people say it's even better without a controller. Most say it's unplayable without, though. Definitely a good game, but the gameplay is most of the fun. You'll probably want to pass, as much as it pains me to say.

The mouse is the big concern. You can use DSmfix along with dsfix to make camera control really damn good and get a nice lock on switching feature with it too.

I don't have trouble playing Dark Souls with just a keyboard, but then again I didn't think Devil May Cry 3 was any trouble to play with just a keyboard either...

Keep in mind that Dark Souls uses GFWL, so folks like me are locked out of the game.

Good ol' GFWL. Pissing off consumers since 2007.

Anyone have any feedback on Natural Selection 2 and Forge? I've been looking to get back into the multiplayer scene and those two seem right up my ally. However I'm rather wary of buying multiplayer games since it seems like the community for my region (Oceania) dies extremely quickly. Anyone know what the state of the server populations are?

Just Cause 2 with DLC is US$7.50 (7.48 without DLC) at GamersGate. Steam keys. It's as cheap as I've ever seen it and full of stupidly fun antics.

So I bought Forge mostly because I was curious about it, it's pretty much a unique subgenre as far as I'm concerned. I however spent 25 minutes reconfiguring the keys binds to something sane. The game expects you to use V, T and B in the middle of combat while still using WASD third person controls ... yeah, fuck off game. It never occurred to the developers to consider using M3, ctrl, Q or the number keys? I also recommend you play with a mouse that has thumb keys, makes it a whole lot better.

I haven't played much of the game yet but once you've got the key bindings set it's pretty competent. The classes all play very differently which is a good thing. I doubt I'll be shifting away from the Pyromancer any time soon though, that guy is awesome. Not really a fan of the melee classes though, seems rather fickle at times.

Don't tell anyone that you can see their shadows. If they hear you telling anyone, if you let them know that you know of them, they will get you.

NS2 is awesome, btw. Can definitely recommend it if you're into fast-paced FPS with a bit of strategy, but don't want to do the whole "30 mins crouching, BAM dead, repeat" some other tactical FPSes do.

Wanna trade one of them for Terraria?
