I bought Sonic Adventure 2 and Sims 3 Pets. Probably the most exciting purchases of the season.

Sims: Medieval seems pretty cool so far, and it's part of the sims daily. My drunken king will rule his kingdom through flirtation and bad personal hygine, or die trying!

Other than that, definatly agree with you Bdthemag, deals are dissapointing all over this year... I've still go so much money left, don't you want it Gaben?  :'(

Natural Selection 2 is on sale (or so I was informed, apparently you get email if a game on your wish list goes on sale) til the 28th.

I think I want it, but is it worth it?

NS1 was quite fun, so I'd say it probably will be, at least if you like the game style.

Never played one, and only know a bit about 2 (FPS with some RTSish elements, with AvP-like aliens). Sounds strange enough to like :)

FTL or LA Noir?

I have to pick one~

I lean FTL. Everyone looks like they are lying in Noir even if they are not. FTL does not lie to you, it is always trying to kill you.

It is very very fun. Both sides play completely differently. The marines can go from a well oiled machine of destruction, following orders and moving as teams to clear out rooms and corridors, to "oh shit i need to repair this turret, something is in the vent, commander please send help, oh shit the power went out and now i cant see"

The aliens are less focused on top-down orders from their commander, can upgrade on the fly, and seem to encourage (with most of the species anyway) sneaking around, waiting for marines to pass by as you lurk in a vent, then pouncing out and eating his face. Crawling along the walls and ceilings is incredibly fun, but so is playing the massive onus tank thingie, and the teleporting one who's name escapes me.

I've not been the commanders on either team yet though, because that seems like it's very difficult to just jump into and pickup.

One last thing, the game does something very cool that I've not seen before in many games: Newbies have green names. Such a little thing, but people really seem to help you out when you've got a green name, and are fairly forgiving of you messing up.

FTL definatly. LA Noir is kind of a cool technology demo, but the game it is draped over is not very good. I played it untill I realised how the mechanics and presentation were designed to trick you into thinking you were actually having any impact in the narrative, or doing any detectoring. After you figure that out (and it's not that well hidden to be fair) theres not much too it.

FTL is a genuinely fun little game. It's not without its problems, but you can replay it a fair few times due to the roguelike nature and different ship designs/layouts. It's also slightly cheaper than LA Noire while being a much better game.

LA Noir has a pretty good narrative, but the game mechanics are silly (the truth or lie thing is hindered by barely ever being able to be sure either way), and by the end of the game you will have killed hundreds of goons in an immersion breaking fashion if you do any of the side missions.
Is anyone else having problems connecting to the steam store, though?

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is at 66%. Is it worth? How does it compare with the previous Sins of a Solar Empire?

And the GalCiv franchise is at 75%. It's kinda silly and the mechanics not all that great, but the AI is stupendous. At the current price it is probably worth it.

If Farm Simulator 2013 doesn't win the next vote, I'll be pissed.

Not sure why we need a second Steam Sale thread. Nevertheless...

Picked up a couple fun-looking adventure/point'n'click games: Resonance and Gemini Rue. Total came out to around 7 dollars.

Yea, a single thread is enough IMHO.

Anyway Just Cause 2 is priced at $3.74 on GetGames, cheaper than Steam ($4.99).
