Knowing that you must stay in shadow and that your prey lives in the nearby cabin, you decide to dig a hole under the wood pile behind it. You are able to form a small cavity and, to your surprise, manage not to set the whole thing ablaze. With an entire day ahead of you, you ponder ways to better worm your way into the minds of these humans. Several hours pass, but you are interrupted by voices raised in alarm. Looking through the gaps between logs, you see two of the men depositing the charred, skeletal remains of their dog a few feet from the campfire.
Several minutes later the other four men appear, talking amongst themselves and gaping in horror at what is left of their companion. Its fur has been all but burned off as has some of its skin, and in places its skull is exposed. You wonder if you should act now, or wait until dark.

Strength: 1.1(Increased due to the humans' fear)
Focus: 2.0(+0.2 from reflection on stuff, +0.2 from the humans' fear)

Time: Midmorning

With your current focus, you are now more confident in your ability to physically affect creatures in your environment. Given that the woodsmen are nearby, you can interact with them and the corpse of the dog so long as you stay out of the sun. (Yes, you can try to zombify the dog. Even if you fail miserably, it will probably scare the hell out of them)
Be aware that more complex actions and creating undead will take focus from your pool as long as they are in effect or "alive".

The voices in your head urge you to reanimate the dog, as well as something about you being a dwarf and digging a hole. You ignore that last bit and put all your effort into raising the animal's corpse from the dead.

The men in the camp look terrified. Last night they've had terrible dreams of death and torment and they'd just found what's left of their dog - a charred, skeletal corpse. As luck would have it, a charred, skeletal corpse that is no longer dead in the normal sense of the word. As you work your magic, you hear a low crackling, like a dying fire. Beneath its burned eyelids, the remains of the dog's eyes flicker with an orange glow as the stench of burning meat forms in the air. Shaken, the six workers step backwards, vainly reaching for the axes they've left against the cabin wall. It is too late.

The crackling grows into a hissing roar, like that of a well-maintained forge in action. The dog suddenly rises to its feet, opening its mouth. Instead of a snarl, a hissing blowtorch of flames vomit forth as it leaps for the first woodsman. Biting and burning, it tears out his throat and sets his clothing ablaze as the rest of the group scatters in fear. One man makes for the cabin while a colleague reaches for an axe, but the former is too slow. The beast knocks him violently to the ground and sets his tunic ablaze. Turning to its third victim, your creation leaps through the air. Suddenly, explosively, it disintegrates in a massive ball of fire as the magical flames destroy what remains of the dog's body. The fireball reaches the woodsman wielding an axe and simply vaporizes him, setting the cabin and clearing ablaze while hurling the remaining three humans through the air. Burned, bruised, and in utter shock, they stumble into the forest.

That... did not go as planned. You had little control over your creation and it the effort nearly removed you from this world, though the results were quite impressive.
(I did nothing, you rolled a natural 20. This is what happens when demonic, evil forces of darkness roll a natural 20.)

Power: 3.7 (-1 for dog, +3 for eating people, +.6  for shock and awe)
Focus: 4.1 (-1.5 for dog, +3 for eating people, +.6 for shock and awe)

("Physical Power" changed to "Power" to better reflect its effects ingame)

This... experience has confirmed your suspicions. You have an affinity for fire, though you are rather poor at controlling it. Using the strength gained from your ethereal meal with this knowledge, you contemplate what you are and how you came into this world. There are old legends among the people here about spirits of darkness and such, but the truth is rather more chilling. You come from beyond... No, not beyond the grave, but from beyond the veil of this reality. Through a disturbance in the fabric of the universe, you were deposited here. This existence has given you a certain gift... Two in fact, an exceptionally rare event. There are very few who can control more than the aspect they were born with.

You think, therefore you are. Do you have a name?

Abilities:
Born of Darkness (Stealth, leeching of energy, weakness to sunlight, all that fun stuff)
Fire Affinity Use of the aspect of fire comes easily for you, often too easily. You would do well to bring it down to size before you do something you regret.

Time: Noon

Certain aspects are closely linked. More can be discovered through consumption of intelligent prey and figuring out how to read books without setting them on fire.

After zombification, have the dog dig deeper!
You would, but it, ah... blew up...

Zombifying the dog only cost 1/1.5? This is ridiculous.

NAMES ARE FOR PUSSIES.

Try to manifest a physical, human-like form that would be able to blend in among them. Experiment with small stuff, trying to carry it without setting it ablaze. If a physical form is completely impossible, try making golems from wood or whatever else lies nearby.

The dog incident was a fluke. Magic in this universe is.. unpredictable. Suffice to say it won't happen again without some serious research.

Also, we only had 1.1 strength at the time, if we'd lost it all we would have ended up hibernating for a few decades until the phlebtonium grew strong in the area, causing a space-time rift to open which would recharge our reserves of Evulz. Wouldn't want that, would you?

But we're sane peop... I mean shadow, right? We wouldn't do something that could potentially put us out of, well, everything for a few decades.

Anyway, I really think that zombifying small creatures should me more along the lines of 10 strength. Otherwise if we somehow manage to get even a hundred people together and then slay them (should be extremely easy in any dangerous place, such as a frontier, a small-scale battle, a plagued town and so on), we'll get enough power to murder everything ever.

I assure you, humans are harder to mess with than normal animals. In any case, the average raised creature will generally be slowed down or stopped by a determined man with a weapon, though they are far more effective psychological weapons.

Also, I'm going to London tomorrow afternoon, so don't be alarmed if this disappears until the first or second of January. I will do my best to get at least one update out today/tonight.
