curious about my king
« on: January 07, 2008, 10:24:00 am »

Is he somehow bugged in 33g?

by now he has neither demands nor mandates, while throwing one tantrum after another for no apparent reason
(okay there were some flies but since there is no way to get rid of them ~~)

Look, just let him fume his way around his palace for as long as he wants.  If he's a king that doesn't make demands, you want him to be there for as long as possible!

there we have
-miasma
-admired a seat
-satisfied at work(?)
-hunger
-thirst
-flies
-pretentious dining arrangement

all but the last bad thought are rather minor,
so is this pretentious dining arrangement such a strong bad thought to make one instantly "very unhappy"?

besides hes slowly getting up, hes already past miserable

Well, just think about it. He's not your hardened pioneer who will eat vermin and sleep on rough siltstone floor. He's a high noble, gotten used to quality nutrition, luxurious quarters and cleanliness! If I was a highly-bred king who was hungry, thirsty and had rotten stink in his quarters, well, I'd be tantruming too.

(I don't actually know whether the game simulates some dwarves being more picky or more hardened than others, but it's easily imaginable seeing the amount of detail already in the game.)

Well, based on information from the wiki...

The flies cancel out the work satisfaction. This leaves miasma, hunger and thirst along with the lesser's pretentious dining arrangement, countered only by the admired seat. I would expect that the pretentious dining is the major factor in the king's mood.

So reduce some other noble's dining room to only just meet their requirements, find several other ways to boost the king's happiness, or enjoy a king that tantraums constantly but doesn't make demands or mandates.

What about the king's living arrangements though?  I've noticed some bad stuff when the living quarters are way below what they expect, and the king expects some pretty heavy duty royalty for living conditions.

yeah i also guessed that the dining arrangement is the mayor factor

but he has his very own room (3 combined ones, but each ones value still above 30k)

i have plenty of sunshine and exceptionally/masterfully meals he would just need to consume

anyway my main-question was why has no demands/mandates...

and thats what im curious about, not that he gets unhappy from his thoghts
