Details at this time:
*School in question was Sandy Hook Elementary, in Newtown, CT.
*Death toll estimated at 27-30, with 18-20 of the dead being children. Shooter also among the dead, although unclear if suicide or killed by police.
*Over 100 rounds reported to have been fired.
*Shooter is named as Ryan Lanza, circa 24 years old. Reports indicate he was wearing body armor and carrying up to four weapons. At least one Glock and one SIG Sauer have been recovered. No motive indicated at this time.
*There are reports that police are searching for a possible second shooter as well.

Needless to say, I'm a mix of white-hot rage and sadness right now. Every time one of these events happens, I feel like the BATF (and by extension me, even if I'm just a technical contractor) has failed.

Shit, the Internet is fast. Couple of sites already found his Facebook page. Lived in Hoboken, NJ. Where reports indicate that one of his parents was discovered dead this morning. So if I had to guess....started off the day by killing his parent either last night or early this morning, then drove to Newtown, CT (where he was originally from) and went on his rampage. C'mon, fucker...there was plenty of open water and bridges and shit you had to cross to get to Connecticut. Why not save everyone else a lot of grief and drive/jump over the side if shit's that bad?

Yes. That was almost as bad, since there were ALOT of people there, but his automatic jammed immediately and he only had that. The police surrounded the whole building quickly, and he killed himself.

Yeah, Oregon, 3 days ago. Kinda forgot about that because there were "only" two victims.


More and more reports indicating a second gunman was involved, and is still on the loose. This is sounding increasingly more like Columbine, only instead of tormented highschoolers taking down their classmates, it's 20-something fuckwads gunning down little kids. WHY?????

A few states may have laws I'm not familiar with, but it's not generally illegal unless you're a felon, and there's not even a required background check to determine whether you are one.

What almost pisses me off more than the shooting is the knowledge that those NRA bastards are going to use this to grandstand about their fucking automatic weapon rights. Also, apparently the first shooter's mother was a teacher there, and is one of the dead. I swear, if it turns out that the motive was bad blood between the shooter and his mother, and the rotten piece of shit decided that the best way to deal with it was to kill a bunch of little kids...
