... basically, the beginning of this movie is clearly influenced by Dwarf Fortress. It begins with dwarfs building a great kingdom with many riches which inevitably falls to "fun". The later half of the movie is the dwarfs trying to reclaim their site.

Makes me want to play!

Anyways, not a bad movie but leaves a bit to be desired as it ends out of nowhere. Also, these Dwarfs are invincible.

Yessir. And Star Wars is clearly influenced by that game Lego Star Wars.

That stuff he describes isn't directly portrayed in the books, so it's irrelevant whether the book itself came before computers.

It isn't directly portrayed, but it definitely happened; the dwarves built a thriving mountainhome, then got the shit kicked out of them by a dragon and were forced to Diaspora.
