couple of minor suggestions

Yo, how are you doing?

I don't deem it neccessary to open several threads for these couple of minor suggestions. Hopefully they'll be unique and useful.

1st.: Give "block"s a crafting quality and adjust their value.
An example: Currently a gabbro boulder is worth 3. Made into 4 Blocks a 5, total worth 20.
Suggestion: Only Masterfully crafted blocks recieve such a high value (as a replacement for the inability to engrave player-made Structures)

2nd.: Give the option to write a Message on a tomb stone. Visable from "q"-menu: This ist the resting place of ..... : "Message"
Comes to mind because I've got an urgent message to write....
"Rovod Amnekdumat(LvL12 Elite Crossbowman): Died year 507 on a minor fracture. Left to dry by the Doctors, her Family, her Friends, her Brothers and Sisters in Arms, her Aquaintences and all the rest of the 40 idlers who didn't give a damn."
... before immolating those incompetent doctors because it's now my turn to throw a tantrum.
A better reason: Randomly generated names on the graves don't really give much information, while having the option of writing something down by oneself gives the ability to connect the graves to certain events.

I had something else, but i forgot what it was. I'll write it down later.
So long...

1. Things like that have been suggested a lot already.
I would rather have "decorative walls" that require 1 block and 1 decorative item to be build. Decorative items could be tapestry made by a clothier or plaques made by a smith or mason and engraved by a craftsdwarf like slabs now.

2. You already get a non-custom message if you engrave a slab for your dwarf. It has quite a bit more info than your message, just not the snark about nobody caring  ;).
I would like to see slabs show more info though, maybe all the info legends mode has of a dwarf, like where he lived, who his family was and a complete kill list. This should be easier to implement than custom messages since the game has the info anyway.

I'm sorry for the late reply. I have been busy lately.
It seems that I overlooked this with the search function.

Thank you.

Maybe slabs could be embedded into walls as a decoration?

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.
