Would it be possible to add a plant creature, that has a child every year that instantly grows up and blasts it away with air? So that you get the effect of these plants taking over.

What do you mean by "instantly", then?

If I remember correctly, you can make a creature skip it's baby and child stage. I haven't modded since .48, so I'm really rusty.

Just gonna settle this for you right now.
Would it be possible to add a plant creature
No.

But, you could make an immobile creature.  Interesting thing about the dust attack though: It won't work in world-gen.  That's what makes FBs so hilarious.  But, if it did, it would kill everything.  The dust attack, that's a weaponized cave-in.  Which is as great a weapon as you think, in the fact that it will kill you too.

So no.

But you could make an immobile creature, make it green, give it trunks and branches instead of limbs, and call it a tree.

But still, no.

Next release, it's possible, if not probable.

Put, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not the best modder.
Aw hell, you'd correct me anyways.  This just hurts my pride less this way.  :D

He is wondering if you can make a creature that has a child that instantly grows up and uses an interaction to kill its mother when born.

I think you could.  I've never tried though, most things don't live that long after blowing up in a cloud of dirt.

I was more thinking of the mother forcefully evicting it's child, so they actually spread instead of multiplying in one spot. But that works too.

Now, don't quote me on this, but I think that an [IMMOBILE] creature spreads during worldgen, and you can make them immortal like Elves and Gobbos.  That should allow them to spread, but be like plants.  You gotta remember that DF physics are not consistent between what you can see and what you can't see.

You mean like a spore plant? Where the mother literally sprouts away it's children in every direction?
That's actually a pretty cool idea, not sure how well it would work though if it's possible, you'd get a lot of exploding children plants if the birth happens in a secluded area.

Now we just need the mighty Putnam to confirm the possibility of an interaction that pushes creatures away from each other with a "yes" or "lolno".

Edit: Yeah, there you have it.

Putnam is a deity that occurs in the DF modding forum.  Putnam was most often depicted as a male heavy and is associated with accurate modding knowledge.

While it isn't possible to set up a creature that scatters it's children to the wind, one potential workaround you could do would be to have the child state of the creature be mobile. Basically all you would do would have a transformational syndrome applied at birth that changed them into some sort of mobile state, and then when it wore off (they would become "adults" at the same time) they would transform back into their immobile state.

Do make sure it is a caste of the original creature.  Otherwise, you may get some accidental cannibalism going on.
