After a short google I didn't really better than slight improvement on select farm animals conditions in a few states. There's a great difference between outright torture and morally justifiable farming, and I don't consider an act that increases space requirements two years now reaching that line.
Nature may have made us to be omnivores, but nature really isn't the best moral guide. We can go without meat so that point's kind of irrelevant.
Just because farm animals may live a better life under our control doesn't make any wrong we inflict on them better. If you adapted and fed a starving to death dog that wouldn't make kicking the shit out of it okay. You'd still be an asshole.

I have no issue with eating meat. Hell, I'd have no problems with eating human flesh if the corpse was from someone who consented and there were no relative who would want the body whole for burial. It's the idea that I'm supporting an industry that treats living feeling beings like objects to abuse that I have a problem with. I'm not comfortable with the idea that someone is causing huge amounts of unnecessary suffering on my behalf. I highly doubt that any animal raising method I would consider justified would be profitable. It just seems a lot more practical to cut out meat entirely than trying to figure out the history of every steak that would hit my plate.
