The droids also never get more then 100 or so tp but not like it matters if you have a battery

Well Iunno they have a lot of TP recovery (admittantly the best one requires the yggdroid to be fully bound but still). Still if you want to seriously use any yggdroid skills on more then the occasional FOE I'd agree. (also for any prospective yggdroid users maxing overheat is a horrible trap don't do it it'll get you, 127 HP an attack is like, a fourth of even a pretty well leveled yggdroid)

tbh there so much worse then the shogun and the females look so odd.

So for people who beat it what path did you take first? I went the true ending first then did the other after.

Gladiator has more HP growth than Hoplite, lol. (I know the VIT growth difference essentially counteracts that.)

People might be giving Yggdroids way too little credit. Everywhere I read it pretty much states that they're the worst class in the game bar none except maybe Farmer, who wasn't really designed for battle anyway. And yes, Yggdroid is the most unwieldy class by a longshot, but they're not without merits: (this taken from the EO3 skill sim)

- Awesome base stats. Highest HP and STR in game, VIT too (tied with Hoplite). Is in the best armor class as well. I don't know about weapon usage
- Data Mining is just way too good. 90% damage boost for normal attacks and 10% crit rate boost as a passive is just really strong, makes them the best normal attackers in the game even before Shoguns. (The Second Sword attack still is better for Warrior's Might cheesing, though.)
- Immunity to binds. They can only get bound by their own skills, not by enemies interfering.
- Overheat. Yeah, I know, it's ridiculously expensive at higher levels, but unless you want HP cannon you can leave it at Level 5. The HP cost only really skyrockets afterwards, so your Yggdroid still sits at a 17% global damage increase for 11 HP every hit. Sounds fair.
- Infravision. 40% dodge rate in the night (and the same as an accuracy boost). That's better than the Ninja's passive skill, and we're talking about one of the naturally bulkiest classes in the game here.
- EM Barrier. The wording is unclear, but a 30% chance for a paralyzing counterattack for just one skill point is great.
- Rocket Jump. One turn of invulnerability whenever you need it (but only once per battle, more or less), for one skill point.
- HP Cannon is really iffy, and for me it depends on how the game actually implements it. If it's just HP difference times maximally 170% influenced by enemy defense it's probably garbage. If it ignores enemy defense, it's quite decently useful. (Since you have to also factor in the 50% damage you get from maxed Overheat.) And if it somehow implements base damage it's God Tier. Might need to be skipped, if you go for it, maximize HP Up.
- I don't know how strong the elemental Bots actually are, how well they scale. (They do look quite fragile.) They might be worth it if you base your party around it, but the only way you'll get a good Shoot off is going in with a less-than-full party. Sounds fun for challenge runs, but it's still just a gimmick.
- Reflector probably is one of the best reasons to go bots. It's like the Zodiac's prophecies without all the requirements, except for having a bot of that type out. Plan ahead!
- And finally, Sleep Mode / Core Dump, which allows you to regenerate mad TP. A shame you only have 60, ever. Investing in TP up sounds tempting.

Subclassing
Yggdroid/Buccaneer: Normal attacks. Really, that's what the Buc subclass was made for. Enhancing some normal attacks. (Eagle Eye might also come in handy.)
Yggdroid/Monk: Ascetic Deeds cancels out a good deal of Overheat. Probably the best means of doing so. Fists are also one of the best weapons in the game and synergize nicely with Yggdroid's strength. And Counter/Retaliate still have stellar formulas.
Yggdroid/Ninja: 75% dodge chance, lol. Karuzawa could really help with any TP issue the Yggdroid ever encounters, too. This might be the way to make a bot-based build work. Kubikiri also, 20% chance of instant kill on normal attack.
Yggdroid/Arbalist: Night Vision gives you like 50% crit chance in the night, Extend helps with using an HP Cannon build in random encounters, Crossbows are awesome and Double Action/HP Cannon just sounds trollish.
Yggdroid/Gladiator: Can Berserker Vow to instantly get an optimal HP cannon. Stun Attack is yet another normal attack modifier which is nice. Clubs are cool, and you DO have a great inbuilt accuracy boost so Nine Smashes will basically hit all the time.
Yggdroid/Shogun: Endure and Daifuhensha. Bloody Lance is also still a magnificient thing.

Yes, they're not as good as Shoguns in most cases. They're just a bit too gimmicky at certain points, limited even, although their gimmick can be strong.
Still, please don't blame the little Yggdroid for not having Warrior's Might. They still have several great tools at their disposal, allowing them to fill their niche and be silly in certain aspects. Really silly.

Iunno, HP cannon requires you to take overheat all the way to 10 which is a good chunk of HP off every turn. I realize it's to help boost HP cannon but it basically removes any kind of survivability it had. I'd imagine it's great for bosses if you can keep it alive.

You make some good points though, it'd still require a TP battery for regular use, being essentially out of action for five turns (remember being fully bound reduces attack, magic power, and evasion by 30%, and removes all his skills) to refill TP to max is kinda bad.

With a TP battery it seems pretty great, though It does basically mean any serious yggdroid will take up two party slots which can be a deal killer.

HP Cannon is actually a cheap skill, 15 TP at most. You should be able to regain that 'cause you're fully bound.
The real restraining factor on it is that you hemorrage HP in random encounters.

Also remember you can remove all binds whenever you feel like it. It just takes a turn.

And, well, you CAN use the class even if you choose to not go for HP cannon. It is not neutered. Their passive skills are among the best in the game, and their base stats are amazing.


Can you kill yourself with Overheat?

That's very true, I'd say it'd be an attack monkey on par with buccaneers (as a note a buccaneer with swashbuckling and lady luck is amazing), and if you subclass buccaneer into it it's great.

Could you use HP cannon while fully bound? If so I concede it's pretty awesome then, otherwise you've gotta spend a turn at least getting fully bound, and 3 turns at worst, then waiting another set of turns for the TP to roll in again.

Passives are amazing, the accuracy boost inparticular could be awesome for nine smashes, all the damage boosts and crit boosts are crazy too, Base stats are great as well.

Not sure if you can kill yourself with overheat, I'm gonna go with yes? But I've never gotten to the point where I've unlocked a class either.

And it's not a bad class at all, I still maintain the TP issue is an issue, since binding yourself takes valuable turns, it's not as bad as I thought as you can keep the part for the skill you wanna use unbound.

The bot tree I think we can universally agree is pretty garbage, IF the bots take up slots, and don't serve as passive buffs for the bots. Although I admit it could be a really neat gimmick as a solo yggdroid run with the bot tree. I guess maybe the bot tree wouldn't be too bad for people enamoured with chasers, but even then shogun has the "chase every attack ever" skill so even then it beats out yggdroid in that sense.

I would go with sub zodiac so it could use skills that the bots could actually chase, since it'd be the only one in the party, and I don't think the bots can attack physically (I think they just chase attacks when they happen, and using all out and shoot (which is the most rediculously underwhelming name for a skill ever, it does 3960% damage with all three bots out jesus, maybe I was wrong about the bot tree too) stuff like that.

If you wanted to Solo Yggdroid, I'd recommend subclassing Ninja. 75% evasion and 20 TP regained every time you dodge something means you might even skip the whole self binding business, and you can clone yourself as well.

Finally defeated Ketos.

Skyrunner and Irony didn't survive, but Eagle Eye and Takanoha were probably the best skills in that battle by far, the latter only being surpassed in damage by Hellfire. Having Kael with me was worth it too despite his lagging behind 5 levels, if only because he's a dedicated fire caster. Prince Wolfy still holds the title of "The Most Fucking Badass Member of the Team" by virtue of still being the only character who has never died. At all.

I at first didn't have any problems VS Ketos. The dude just sat around, sometimes derping a bit but most of the time hitting nothing at all with Ocean Rave and having annoyingly hard evasion.

Then he put four of my doods to sleep. Then he used Ocean Rave. One survivor, and it's the Zodiac.
Coming back from that and narrowly securing victory was one of the most satisfying things I ever achieved in an Etrian Odyssey game. <3 consumables, </3 having to farm for them so much
