Isn't this a little bit paranoid for turn zero paranoia? I mean, really?

Anyway, it'd be a perfectly reasonable thing to engage a zombie mob via our door gun while we're inserting.

Yea... draw every zombie in a hundred miles to where we're landing.

Good plan.

We're riding a helicopter. Not exactly quiet things. There's no reason to keep the pretty laser beam going from our bird right where we touch down.

Are you worried that the zombies we're fighting are going to be smart enough to track a helicopter from flying somewhere over the city, but only if I fire, not just hearing the thing, to where we land?

I mean, if we're giving them that much credit, I'm a lot more worried about zeds manning a SAM battery or two and would like to request that Mr. Weasal get us some immediate Wild Weasel (planes equiped to disrupt/destroy radar and anti-aircraft emplacements) support.

Some choppers are very quiet.

But we have survivors and utopians and probably groups of rebels and rouge soldiers in the town.

No use adding to our problems.

No use wasting our ammo, anyway. We might need that at some point.

Two things:

There's a difference between paranoia and placing explosives in a squadmate's pocket.

And I think Strife's right about the Helicopter thing.  Maybe parachuting in would be better?  The survivors (Who we are supposed to help) would probably see and realize where we are, but the zed probably won't.  They'll follow the noise.
Of course, there are some complications with that plan.
We'll probably be split up by winds and whatnot (Which, of course, might be fun for us and the GM)
We won't have much control over where we land, so dropping into a horde is a possibility
And oh yeah, I'm fucking metal.

So... I think it might be more entertaining to drop in, but it would likely be safer to get dropped off on a building or in a field/courtyard and let the heli fly off, the noise will probably draw the zed.

TL;DR: What we're doing is perfectly fine and may be the safest option.  But it might be more fun to paradrop.

Well almost everybody has made turns that involve us landing as a team and moving out together.....

So we can't jump.

Plus we ain't trained for that and losing half the team before we begin won't be a good start.

I can claim some airborne experience for my guy, although I think that it'd be more reasonable if he got accepted for the mission on the basis of having air assault credentials.

But yeah, no reason to change our start scenario now. If we wanted to do this the easy way, it'd be with a thunder run of a mechanized battalion, after all.

I figure that the planned this mission with the utmost speed as the requirement. I mean, it'd kinda suck if the president and whomever he's with got wiped out, right?

Dropping people from the air would require an airborne unit ready to go, and it'd always take time for them to regroup enough to act. Meanwhile, any armor is going to have to drive there, which depending on what's still alive, could take a significant time. So, the fastest solution was to scrape together ZedTeamSix and put them on a fast chopper from the Islands to Freedom City. I'd imagine that there'd be another (possible airborne, but I think that I'd go for choppers again, if I had enough) assault going on at the Freedom City Airport, working to secure it so that a few battalions of armored vehicles can get flown in and try to do quick sprints through the city looking for survivors.

Or we're looking at racoon city.

They sent us in to find him and anyone we can then get out and they turn the city into a wasteland.

That's possible, but as long as they're doing that, why not have a billion and a half aircraft overhead blasting anything that moves before they nuke the place?

As long as I'm speculating about the game, in before the President's revealed to be a female named Clair.

That... would be the safest solution to this problem, really.
And... they would need a high-ranking official to clear it once the president is clear... someone who knows how to call in ordinance...
Guys... I think we know what Weasel is here for.

I mean, think about it.  We can't kill them all.  They told us to round up all civilians we can find.  What else do you think they could do?

Oh, and I'm gonna go ahead and guess that Weasel's real name is Claire (vagina is optional).
