What kinda killed this for me is the power creep.

It was kinda entertaining while the people I was facing were using relatively unoptimized decks... but then I started to get XYZ and Synchro and they pretty much negate all my decks.

Though my weakness is that I never use any tactic I dislike myself. I hate burn decks and I never use them unfortunately. Even if my deck sort of stands out as a burn.

My stupid refusal to make Elemental Hero, Syncro, or XYZs...

I can see what you mean and I agree with you.
Konami gave up after season 2,let's say.
Konami doesn't have anything that stands.All they want is money.

Bump.  New format, so it's a good chance to build a deck without worrying about all its cards being eliminated.

Dragon Rulers seem to be the strongest deck at the moment, in spite of the fact that five of its cards were just banned.  Five.

Generic Synchro is finally dead thanks to the banning of their key tuner (Glow-up Bulb) and boss cards (Brionac, Trishula).  A few no-brainers are gone too (Solemn Judgment, Monster Reborn, Heavy Storm).

Also

Game Controller is good if you have a really cheap expendable monster like Treeborn Frog (if you have Treeborn Frog you can basically completely skip the cost by using it in the standby phase).  Otherwise it still suffers from the card advantage problem.

This is actually wrong, Enemy Controller maintains card advantage.  You use a spell card (-1) and tribute a monster (-1) to make your opponent lose a card (+1) and you gain a card (+1).  Two for two.  The only issue is that you need a monster already on the field to use it properly.

e: The best thing about YGOPro is how your opponent can get so lost in special summoning a dozen times that they lose due to timeout

I consider those the Yo-yo bans.

They ban them when they want more card variety... wait a while... then unban them. Over and over again.

This is the first time Solemn Judgment has been banned.  I think they bring back Heavy Storm if they think people are setting too many traps, and Monster Reborn... I don't know why they brought back Monster Reborn twice.  It's clearly overpowered and no-brainery in the vast majority of decks.
