Game Controller is good if you have a really cheap expendable monster like Treeborn Frog (if you have Treeborn Frog you can basically completely skip the cost by using it in the standby phase).  Otherwise it still suffers from the card advantage problem.

You see the true trick to the game is to make a deck that is less then 40 cards.

there also a cheat in world champ 2010 that you can have as many little cards as you want 5 cards all Exodia happened a lot

Well I meant more that you want cards that fetch other cards or that allow you to draw a single card for nothing.

Essentially turning a 40 card deck into a 20 card deck.

Or Illusion gate... if it was a real card and not a game exclusive (Its an effect card where as long as it is face up on the field the opponent cannot draw by draw effects)

Yes. I'm quite old school, but even that feels alien to me - very few effect monsters, OP spells and traps, etc.

It was balanced in the sense that... Back then every deck would have Pot of Greed.

They took out Harpy's Feather Duster, Raigeki, and Pot of Greed from the game not because they were completely unbalanced but because they would simply end up in just about every deck.
