Hell: The Inferno
« on: December 08, 2012, 03:26:20 pm »

Discover, create, rob, and kill. Inferno is a unique free open-PVP MOO where
almost anything goes. Build yourself into a disguisting abomination with
irradiated claws jutting from your forearms, a happy nerd with the brains
of a genius or anything in-between. You can fly, teleport, grow a third
nipple, become a billygoat, or tons of other awesome things in the form of
mutations ... the choice is yours. Team up with friends or make new ones
then create a corporation that controls the world. Launching Friday 12/7/12
inferno.optiquest.org port 7777 See you there.

That is the official ad for it. Here's my ad.

This is Hell. At least, the Hellcore and the majority of the game. It just started, so if you want to get in on the ground floor now is the time. Pluses.
-No more grinding, skill costs very low to learn.
-Other assorted nice changes.
-Team of admins who give a crap, instead of a singular admin or admins who don't like pvp.
-Easy gymming and possibly degymming. Anything that can reduce tedium or other such nonsense will likely be included.
-Players. Right now, there are 15 people on.

Finally, a game that lets me grow a third nipple.
I know, this is truly what I have been looking for in a game all my life.

I'm a bit confused on one thing, is it now only possible to gain skills through teachers? So now it's just grinding for xp and cash?

I'm not certain if I want to play this. Can you sell me a little more on this third incarnation of HellMOO? I mean you kind of put me off with the no grinding bit.

Mm, I second dei. Grinding was always the thing I enjoyed most about Hell. HateMOO's change to allow grinding up to 15 was a large part of why I played there (the increased mutation slots were most of the rest).

PK or no/limited PK doesn't matter to me, but I'd just like to play a place with the potential for grinding the hell out of things (or skip it, for those who don't want to, for a slight penalty) and enjoying all the various content in the world of Hell.

Orphanage is gone as is starting as an orphan. Admins wanted to get away from anything that might be construed as under age. It is replaced by a defective clone place, and the clones don't fight back.

Grinding IS gone. XP from kills, journals, achievements, and other such is what you spend your time on. Costs are massively lowered and you get free raws of some skills from the get go.

Otherwise it's a Hell with PVP and active admins. Changes are coming constantly, and things are always improving.

I'll have to get into this again, considering it's a step away from Mada's madness.

A fresh start would be nice. I felt like I had a lot invested in my last character, but hadn't played her in well over a year.

As a side note, with the orphanage gone, does that mean the shoggoth is too? He was my favorite.

This is neither a good or a bad thing in my opinion. Part of the fun for HellMOO for me was how shocking the content was though. I for one don't think morals and a game like HellMOO mix. Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning the content that they have nor do I specifically enjoy it but when I play a game that is themed around a post-apocalyptic Hell on Earth I want to be shocked, apalled and disgusted.

Grinding IS gone. XP from kills, journals, achievements, and other such is what you spend your time on. Costs are massively lowered and you get free raws of some skills from the get go.

You lost me on this one. This may be strange but I love grinding as it feels rather rewarding to me. No grinding makes a game like one of those shitty World of Warcraft private servers that make you level 80 right when you log in - it takes the fun out of the whole damn game.

Otherwise it's a Hell with PVP and active admins. Changes are coming constantly, and things are always improving.

I hate mandated PvP and I could care less about the administration. I think I'll go play HellMOO when I feel like playing MUDs again. I'm therefore going to fuck off from this thread. Goodbye.

Tip: A website is always nice as well as a screen shot or two.

Honestly I don't even check games people don't at least link.

Only the original HellMOO shard has an official website - HellMOO. The rest of the shards don't have that much if anything last I checked due to poor management of resources and administrators. Then again I last checked a few months ago so it might have changed or something.

I don't like the new character creation. :(
It's just so bland and streamlined-- the old one had more character.
Other than that, things seem good, I guess- although I didn't really mind grinding, either. You could always pay XP to learn if you really wanted. No more jumping into a well and spending hours trying to get out as a way to learn climb. :P

I rather liked grinding, gave skills a sense of progression to them, but this does make it more worthwhile to seek out a player to teach you or spend too much money trying to get stuff.

On the bright side, Helliday Inn has plenty of free spots. Bit expensive to start, but if you know what you're doing $1000 a month is chump change.

What sacrilege!

If its not an ophan rape simulator its not HellMoo

Maybe I should try this, lack of grinding is good for old Hellmoo players like me who now have full time jobs and bugger all free time :(
