Forum suggestion. Divide Modding section in two
« on: December 06, 2012, 08:54:38 am »

Hi all,

I have a suggestion for this Forum. The Modding section is full of topics about modding and about mods, so is hard to find one or other, is very messy. Would be great if there are two sections, one for modding, and another for finished mods or wip mods. If you want to learn, or talk about modding, you go to the modding section. If you want to download a mod, or expose your work, you go to the mods section.

  What do you think?

So, a modding forum and a mods forum. I like that.

I don't really see the point of that, considering there is a stickied 'community mods and utilities' thread.

Child board(s) would do.

Also a child board of DF General Discussion for Utilities, so people can stop wondering whether to put utility threads in Modding or General Discussion.

Not that it matters much if the status quo remains; in this case, the status is more or less quo anyway.

I have an idea. Let's play a game where you win by being as quiet as possible.
I get it, it's one of those games where losing is fun!

Yeah, but it's run by one person, doesn't have all the mods and many mods on it are out-of-date.

I agree with this split.

Well, a split would be difficult to handle. Subforums, on the other hand, wouldn't be. Either a "released mods" subforum or a "modding help" subforum would be good.

This would be great. Something like the Minecraft forum http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum.

Yeah, subforuming it up would be the best option, I think, like the great RTD/FGRP split of almost-old. I'm not sure how much time effort it'd take on Toady's part to do it though, depending on far back he'd have to sort stuff.

I would imagine we could just, you know, sort it ourselves. Like, "hey, reminder that this goes here!"

Oh cool, my suggestion is gaining traction! Oh wow, I would be the guy who initiated a forum Change. A mnument to beign the first person to say something.

Perhaps, we should ask the other Modders what they would think?

I support this. However, credit must go to McFeel to starting this. Sorry, Misko.
