in the game world I would Grey hat but I would never the less stick to my morals. Viruses are viruses white software is white software I would never taint it. And I am a white hat and prefer to build than destroy

I would also keep it all open source so you can read what the code is if you wish to have a look at it. Also why would I infect my own team mates? Makes none sense. Anyway I would rather make something useful and help people then destroy and make people miserable.

Ethics I have a lot of em :P

But really you have nothing to worry if in game I'm making malware I will in depth  tell you all that it is malware designed to do this this and this and Not to install it hehe

Well, I would never actually do the things of which I am describing to actual computers. It's a game which lets me let out my most malicious technological ideas... Perhaps I could overheat their engines and create a big molten ball in the center of their ship?
Yeah, same here. I don't actually do that kind of thing, it's more because it would be hilarious to watch an enemy's ship randomly swerve into asteroids, other ships, etc as I laugh my ass of from inside my invisible spacecraft.

Security by obscurity works wonders

Oh boy.

Not as a sole line of defense lol, talking layers.  Obviously you'd also have firewalls and other measures, but a limited, controlled program is much harder to crack by nature because it's much harder to obtain a copy to work with in the first place.  Also, the fewer users it has the less motive to crack it in the first place.  If someone makes their living hacking, there's a much greater incentive to attack something with 10,000 users than 10, unless you're specifically targeting those 10 people.

Also, if you think security by obscurity doesn't work, crack a one-time pad cipher, or a book code from a specific reprint of a poorly-known 12th century philosophy text and get back to me ;p

Exactly : there is no games that allow us to scheme for taking over the world. That should be a parameter that is always considered.

The depth of the programming potential in this game is exciting, but I am really disappointed things will be largely pre-fab as opposed to destructible voxels. When I first heard of this, I thought it would be based on destructible voxels.

Somewhere between Scrumbleship, corneroids, and 0x10c is a magical game.

If this game is of the scale it seems it's going to be, it's going to be awesome.

I will probably play solo for a little bit, but eventually start my own group (and definitely be allied with Bay12). There are going to be planets, moons, and asteroids, correct? If so, I will likely build bases on said bodies and use them as shipyards and refueling stations for my group.

Yeah, was a little disappointed by that myself.  Now Notch is considering making it more like Guild Wars 1 or some other co-op game rather than an MMO... and still charging a sub, which would be a the stupidest thing I've ever heard, and a total waste of potential.  =/

Hope for the best, I guess.

Incase you havent noticed, but paying for a server that simulates 100 million star systems simultaneously is kinda expensive. You try to make a game that big and not charge for subscription.

Where the hell does it say 10 player coop?

It's 10 players in a ship, but there's loads of other ships on the server. And only one ship needs to be paid for.
