Let's see, I breached into the side of a high cliff side wall, so, I resealed it, aaand that was it. (Well, and cancelled further digging designations until such a time that I was ready to unseal and explore) I may have missed a d>u/d>r though, it CAN be hard to tell with how some of the walls shade when designated. >.<

Could be. If you scrape the side of a high wall while digging, say, a long vertical staircase, the dwarf will continue digging the staircase into the side of the wall until it hits ground level. GCS can't climb (nothing in DF can, at least in 34.11), so it must have entered a dug passage at around ground level.

If I'm using ramps/channels to dig out an area, I usually designate both ramp and channel around areas I don't want opened up. This leads to a lot of cancellation spam, but allows me to see which tiles on which level will be dug. I've accidentally ramped up into the cavern floor a couple of times, though I don't think I've ever failed to notice quickly.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I'm trying to fathom how you people manage to get yourselves comepletely situated underground for several IG years without breaching the caverns, like, Beds, how do you do the Beds thing when you no have wood? Or gets charcoal for smelting that goblinite that you... aren't getting because you're locked inside anyway?  ???

Even if your embark has absolutely zero trees, you can still deconstruct your embark wagon to get 3 logs. 1 bed designated as a dormitory is fine for the first year until the caravan comes brining more wood.

I never bother with goblinite, personally, because the steel weapons/armor I can buy from the caravan are much nicer.

Yeah, until I get cocky and embark onto the side of a mountain and my wagon disappears, robbing me of 3 perfectly good (not to mention FREE) logs. I usually take 4 logs on a "lean" embark instead of 1, just in case that happens.
