3-D Fortress Viewers
« on: December 02, 2012, 08:52:07 pm »

I remember seeing something about Fortress Overseer or something like that a while ago, but I can't find the topic again. I've seen screenshots of 3-D fortresses. I'm not referring to isometric things like Stonesense, is there any literal 3-D viewers around?

Here it is. Most of the well-known third party utilities can be found in the stickied thread in the modding forum. I'm not aware of any other 3D visualizers.

Ah, thanks. By any chance do you know if it works in the current version?

Works fine, I've used it lately.

Well if COD players all have ADHD, and Minecrafters autism, then what do DF players all have?

A while ago there was something which translated your DF map into a mine craft map. Not sure if that has been maintained, but I did it to one of my forts, and it was pretty cool.

I used that program as well - unfortunately, it was limited to only a portion of the map at the time that I used it, and couldn't export much more than an embark tile or two. Every few months someone posts a new thread in the General Discussion forum about DF-MC crossover potential, so the demand is there. It'll be fulfilled eventually.
