I'll be too busy being disappointed that the "end of the world" doesn't look like it'll end up being nearly as cool as I had anticipated, and that I in all likelihood won't get the chance to run down the side of any collapsing buildings or pick a fight with Jesus.

*sigh*

I plan on spending my final days like my normal days.

Once it's the 22nd of December, I shall sit. And laugh at the fools that really believed it. then complain about all the court cases of rape, looting, murder etc. caused by people certain that the world would end.

Don't forget the frighteningly probable possibility of either a population boom, or mass-abortion (mostly out of convenience (most common reason for other cases without the Apocalypse factored in; which thoroughly sickens me as a human being. To kill your own child before they have a chance to be born/live, because you don't want to take responsibility, or take care of another life (not even considering adoption as an option), and want to continue sleeping around/party/etc.? Pardon my strong moral code, but that's just cruel.)).

Worryingly, the latter, more than the former (considering all the morons that have to "get laid before the world ends" in "last night on Earth" scenarios). Such a waste of life; so many silent screams. Mayhaps that is what the prophets foretold of "Many Screams from Hell" or catastrophic amounts of loss of lives when the Apocalypse arrives, or something of the sort? Not the mature lives being eradicated, but the potential newcomers, upon mass-abortion, if they are factored in as the millions upon millions of lives lost.

Whether or not you believe life begins at conception, it still makes me sick thinking about it. That would be alot of pissed off spirits being denied right to contributing to a potential population boom.

...complain about all the court cases of rape, looting, murder etc. caused by people certain that the world would end.

I don't really see why anyone would go through the trouble of murdering someone if they truly believed that the world was about to end. That's like breaking into a restaurant to make yourself a meal because you were too impatient to wait a few hours until they were open again.

EDIT: Hey, this gives me an awesome idea, though! I can spend Faux Apocalypse Day fighting the fear & desperation fueled crimes of the masses, like some kind of recently awakened vigilante superhero! YEAH!

In a temporarily lawless land, I think you can get away with murder; for the lulz. It worries me that there are people out there that will exploit this, purely to kill for fun. "Despite a guaranteed doom around the corner or not, let's end it sooner for some people, because I feel like it."; some twisted people in a nutshell.

EDIT:
Considering the recent school shooting, this acknowledges my fear. If this was clearly because "The End is near anyway, so it makes no difference.", not cool man, not cool at all.

The Beginning of the End.

Dang, I thought this was going to be a link to the classic giant bug movie of the same name.

Giant grasshoppers, people. When you least expect it.

Also, if the world really is going to end, I plan to die.

Prolly going to reread Good Omens, because if the world doesn't end that's clearly why it didn't.

What would I do if meteorites fell down from the sky or zombies started biting peoples heads off?

Probably sign up at NASA to become an astronaut and go to some random space place and eat astronaut food for the rest of my life.(Its really good!)

They'll clearly be a murder spike for people who worry that they wont have a chance to do it personally otherwise. As for collapsing buildings, you may be underestimating the potential level of disorder or contingency plans. It's fairly obvious people will try to pull something off to get it buzzing. I wonder what the next morning will be like.

While my family doesn't believe that the world will end on the fated solstice, they do believe there's going to be something big happening. Namely, an electrical appliance-frying massive solar flare.

So we're going to go over to my grandmother's house out in the boonies, because it has all the shit we'd need to survive.

I'm probably wrapping my computer in aluminum foil before we go, in the likely vain attempt to keep it from getting fried. I can't say I believe it will happen, but I do believe in the idea of 'better safe than sorry'.

Your family thinks the Mayans had high technology? I'm genially curious as to how they came to that conclusion, though to be fair there is Narrative Causality.

You all just don't get the severity of the problem here, we are talking about My-day the 13th.
The date that Mayans predicted their strictly Linear calander will reach it's 13th b'ak'tun. The Mayans have NEVER been wrong about predictions in a similar nature in the past!

You can bet that every desktop computer currently in my possession is safely wrapped in aluminum foil, and I'm keeping my tomato sauce in metallic containers that require a special manual tool to open because I might not use them before Myday the 13th.

You gotta be prepared!
