Allow bonecarvers to automatically dissassemble skeletons.
« on: November 30, 2012, 06:37:54 pm »

I always hate that my corpse stockpile, on the chance that a corpse goes rotten (usually things like cave trolls, but occasionally wildlife when the butchers aren't doing a good job), ends up staying there and I have to wait a couple years before my bonecarvers can do anything about it... So I suggest that when a bonecarver is looking for bones/ivory/skulls to carve, they should be allowed to carry the skeleton to the workshop and dissassemble it there.

Why? All this would do is move butchery to a more-used workshop.

Butchers don't butcher skeletons, though.

They do, except for ones that aren't butcherable in the first place.

From what I understand skeletons are meant to be unusable. It's what stops us from killing a sentient creature and then waiting for them to rot before using their bones, as we can't butcher them. If I remember right it put a stop to mermaid farms.

Again, if it's (say) a wild horse's skeleton, it is butcherable and will be butchered if it's close enough that the unrotten corpse would be butchered.
