Turn 10: Angel Contact
((Once the fight starts, you'll be missing Applejack, Fluttershy and Spike but hey, the Mane cast is almost complete.))
Twilight had a bad feeling about the use of Spiral Energy, reading up on the war tells her that a third faction tried to destory all of Equestria by unleashing a creature only known as the Spiral Nemesis. While there is no information on such an enemy, she decided to draw up the general idea of the Spiral Energy Drive that would be needed to get the Ganmen up and running. Not noticing her friend Rarity around, she starts work on a prototype, or at least a presentable idea of one.
Resolving Extended Action (Alice)
Alice runs though the Databases of the ship, despite the distractions, and finds a few Mission Videos, telling about the Nahal Argama's role in the war: A secondary factory in case the Crystal Empire's Production of Mobile Weapons are disruptive. One video stands out from the rest, and it seems related to the Black Hole Cannon
"I don't know who'd find this out here... but we have developed a way to use the Black Hole Cannon as a Ship Weapon" a human voice spoke... "All we have to do is to modify the Hardports to stick it on top of the Nahal Argama, point the thing at Canterlot and we can end the war in favor of our Lord Sombra. I know this seems dangerious and the ship would be a sitting duck in the process, but it's our last chance to show the Tyrant Sun what for..."
Alice doesn't seem to get much out of the video, except what side the ship was on during the War. Another Mission File seems to peak her interest.
Those Madmen! How dare they unleash the Spiral Nemesis! The only way we can satate such a beast is to cut off our connection to this Spiral Power and that of our enemies! I warned the King nothing good comes out of overusing Spiral Energy but did he listen? No... and now we're facing a potential Black Hole in our hands! Send this to every ship in the fleet, or at least any survivors that didn't get struck down by those Anti-Spiral things...
That King Celestio? We're going to destroy him, and the Uniforce with one final attack, unleash every ounce of Dis Lev out of that contraption... it's either us, or them...
A related file to the angry Captain seems to be a discovery of an alternate way to power Ganmen, though these guys are not as strong as a "properly" built Ganmen. Judging by the success of the Lagaan Solar Furnance type, it seems to be a perfect start, based on a Digital Blueprint of a Solar Battery. Alice can now subsitute Solar Batteries in for a Spiral Energy Drive on the construction of "Proper" Ganmen without a penality.
Taking this fact in, and noting a Crewman noting the lack of Spiral Energy Drive, it seems to make sence that gutting Spiral Energy Drives for Solar Batteries make sence... on the other hand? Alice noted they'd be overreliant on Celestia, a major irony but on the other hand, they'd pull anything to prevent this Spiral Nemesis thing from being unleashed and complicating things further.
Otherwise, Alice finds another file, that stated a Scientist joking that a Black Hole Engine is what happens if you take a Spiral Energy Drive, and set it to overdrive, though without a Spiral Energy Drive to mess with, she is unable to test her theory/joke.
Lester makes changes to the Piloting Roster, and sends Time Turner a Request to get Mobile Suits to either gut or parts to upgrade further.
Time Turner finds out something bad's about to happen.
A large creature seems to be walking towards Canterlot, but stops by to wreak Ponyville on it's way. Judging from his spot though, it'll take a few hours at it's pace, but noted the Nahal Argama is within it's path. On the bright side (for a given value of such), he is currently hitching a ride in the AM Gunner,
piloted by a Rainbow Pony at the moment as he tells Lester this, also carrying some Personal Trooper Parts, and Armored Module Parts (10 of each). He also joked that if it is what he thinks it is, to remember the three steps: Neturalize, Penetrate and Stab. As for the G-Exes he noted, some of the critical technologies that go in building it, such as the DODS Rifle, is Royal Guard property. He also stated that if you want a G-Exes, or even AGE-1, you'd need to fly to Canterlot to buy from them directly, at the cost of 2,000,000 Bits per unit. Right now, he finished, there's a giant problem to deal with first.
The Mechanic team, in the meantime guts the AEU Enact down to it's basic parts (5) and adds them to the pile of parts they were accumulating from scrapping units to make room for the new suits
1x Solar Furnance, 10x Mobile Suit Parts, 3x Weapon Parts, 1x Rifle Frame
Alice tries to find something on the G-Exes (4-1) and oddly enough, there's nothing on it, or the Shaldoll that it developed from. You wonder just what they were trying to pull with the two Genoaces the ship once had.
Marcus grabs all the parts out of the Royal Guard, getting 1 Cannon Frame, 1 Rifle Frame, 2 Microwave Generators, 1 Variable Charge Fuse, 1 Energy Coupling Device and 32 Weapon Parts out of the deal with the Royal Guard
Kenji gets the VARIS Rifle Blueprints and gathers info on Manehattan stuff (5) and meets an elderly Earth Pony who seems to have lost his head. He claims that Dark Magic is at work when creating the EXAM system and implors Kenji to destory everything related to the EXAM System, putting him in a moral dilemma.
Other odd jobs include the following:
- "Gone to Manehattan to see what's going on over there? Do me a favor and help my friend finish the Gundam X, it's missing that funny Cannon thing and is missing two Energy Coupler Devices. He seems a bit peeved he can't get the Couplers for some reason."
- "I want some armored Protection on my way to Manehattan, can you take me over there in that thing you called a Ship? I'll bring my Gespent mk I."
- "I'm going to Manehattan to pick up a wreaked AGE-1 Sparrow, can you take me over there? I'll bring a GM II with you.
Clair and Keiram direct the crew to see if there's systems in need of an upgrade, or potential upgrade lists, they and the other Ponies gather the following information:
- "I think we picked a nice spot for some kind of Scrap Refinery of sort? Far as I know, we can buy one of those parts wholesale at Manehattan: We can fix the GN Drive Tau shortage and upgrade the Nahal Argama in one fell swoop."
- "Even though all of us together can get you guys to Canterlot in a hurry, we still think we can modify the engines a bit to get more power and output out of these guys. I still think trying to get this thing to run on several thousand GN Tau Drives is a bad idea."
- "Even with 10 Unicorns working the Sensors, we can still try to upgrade the arrays to let us see farther."
Meanwhile, a
Pink Pony started searching for her friends to give them a gift, a funny-looking Deck of cards, as she boards the Nahal Argama. When somepony asks her what it's supposed to be, she identifies her thing as "The Deck of Spirit Commands", whatever that means. No one seems to be willing to stick their necks out for her little invention, but it can become either the greatest Boon, or the biggest problem on this journey.
From here on out, Pinkie Pie's Deck of Spirit Commands can be used, granting the characters random Spirit Commands. When you draw and use a Card, you use the effect on the Card and can either choose to keep the Command and perminately Learn it (making it subjective to the Cooldown rule), or ditch the Command for another one. You can also keep the card in reserve, as like building SP for a particular plan. Drawing a Card takes up your Turn and you can save up to 5 Spirit Commands to meld at once, (when you Meld it, you get a diffrent Command depending on your hand, Melding requires 5 Spirit Commands in hand). Spirit Command usage (from either your hand or from your Spirit Command list) does not take up your turn. By the way? You can only learn up to 5 Spirit Commands, and Keiji used up one of his slots when he awoke Hotblood.
Beware the Pinkamina Card when you gather your spirit... for it may be the end of your journey.
