Currently, armies are organized in Legions. We got 3 of them, each ruled by a PC already. Since Legates (Generals) are political appointment, you cannot really expect one from the start.

So you can either join as a Senator and hope/scheme to become a Legates, or join as an officer (like Taricus do), whihc mean you won't directly control an army (but your Legates might very well send you on missions or stuff).

Currently, our Legion are:

• I Hadria: Led by Azthor (the Emperor), Taricus is Centurio of the First Cohort there, based in Hadria.
• II Fulminaria: Led by Dragor, no other PC, based in Northern Whitepeak.
• III: Led by Terenos, no other PC, based in Southern Whitepeak.

I'm pretty sure Dragor would be glad to have a PC as an officer. You could also join the Praetorian (We got 3 PCs there yet), or the Svebian Guard (barbarian bodyguards of the Emperor).

An army of nobles would go no-where. Mainly because they're all so FAT
