Desperate Gods
« on: November 24, 2012, 04:35:22 pm »

Experience the '80s in this new, bold, OPEN-SOURCE game which simulates throwing dice and owning a board game without having to physically touch one! All gameplay takes place in real-time, and players' cursors are visible to one another at all times, just like an actual board game.

Developed by independent studio Wolfire Games, and available (free, duh!) on either PC, or Mac, or both! The videos explain the rules if you don't feel like reading the manual that comes with it, and do a very good job of giving you a general idea of the spirit of the game, or at least a better one than I could ever give you. Now take the links and shut up!

I'll host games for any and all parties interested! Four players maximum, including myself. I wonder if spectators are permitted?

By the way everyone, the game is 100% free and totally open-source. You can make your own games!

I watched the video on this, and I gotta say this is an interesting concept.

maybe we could get some rules for a DF-themed boardgame? (I don't actually own this yet)

P.S. you should all check out overgrowth as well!

We do have an Overgrowth thread somewhere in this forum, but it kinda died. Which is a shame, considering that it's still under development :P

There's preexisting ones for now, but definitely later on. If there's anything we don't like we can just ignore it. :D

Yarr, I know it be free, but I be wondering if tying it be worth my time.

ARR!
Its also real-time. No waiting for turns, we just move things around. Just like an actual board game.

The instructions aren't very good, once I get things figured out I might write up my own real quick for people.  It looks pretty sweet, and I've got some ideas for a DF game I'll throw around when i'm back in like 45 minutes.
