Sometimes I think spoilers get to a point where... There are too many and perhaps a spoiler zone would be better.

The title says (Watch out for spoilers!)

If you don't want spoilers on anything related to the walking dead, get up to date or deal with it and don't complain. Most of us on here are using spoiler tabs.

So The Walking Dead got VGA Game Of The Year, in case you're still on the fence.

Then wait to buy it as a whole and play it as a whole, at $25 hell $15 or less if you wait that long, it was more than a meal here in total.

I probably will, I have bought Telltale games before and always felt kinda empty.

This is seriously nothing like the other Telltale Games. It might as well be made by a different company. Not that their other things aren't good, but this is just completely different. And the episodic nature was handled really well. No cliffhangers, just time to think about what happened.

This is the most important game in 2012. Actually good storytelling in a game with the main focus being the story and the characters. No first person shooting or RPG hijinks to cover for the bad parts, like in most games. There pretty much isn't any bad parts.

I wonder who's Clem's VA. I'd like to see an interview with her, regarding the game, cause she did a pretty good job on acting there.
That would be Melissa Hutchison. She ended up winning best voice acting in the VGAs. Pretty good job indeed. : P

That really took me by surprise. I really wouldn't have expected that. Don't these things usually go to the massive blockbusters or Cod Blops or the modern muddy-colored "realistic and immersive" games that people don't care about 3 months later?

Great thing to see it though, especially as the guys in lead of the project were Jake Rodkin and Sean Vanaman from Idle Thumbs.

Heh, yeah. There aren't any explosions and a crapload of weapons to choose from. It doesn't have excellent graphics. It doesn't even have multiplayer.

It's a good sign. Maybe I was too cynic about the way I perceive modern video games and the fate of gaming. Especially since how indie devs are gaining popularity, I think things are looking good.

Eh, if you don't cry at the ending of this game you either lack emotions or something is keeping you from focusing. Try playing it with the lights turned off and alone for maximum tears.

I'll admit, I cried like a little bitch and started pacing the room once the credits rolled.

Reflecting upon it now, there are several flaws that annoy me, but I don't bring them up, and The Walking Dead still remains the GOTY of 2012 for me.

I didn't feel all that upset by the ending nor did I felt like I was going to cry at any point.
It could've been that I figure out exactly how the game would end as soon as I started playing the first chapter. It could've also been that I can easily separate reality from fantasy and find it easy to maintain a sense of emotional separation. It could've been that I was too busy analysing the scenes for visual metaphors.  :P

I'm still amazed that something as mundane and overdone as a zombie outbreak can still keep me enthralled. Shows an outstanding display of writing and finesse. All I can say is kudos to the team.
Although it doesn't make the VGA any less of a commercial piece of shit masquerading as anything more than mindless noise for drugged out frat-boys.

The VGA is okay. They've certainly gotten a lot better over the years. I can almost respect them now that they've given Game of the Year to a heavily story-weighted adventure game.

Fellas from Telltale know how to deliver an ending. I mean, after witnessing the ending of Mass Effect 3... Sheesh. ME2 was much more better.

I think there is still gold waiting to be mined in the zombie apocalypse genre. We were too focused on killing as much as zombies as possible and stuff like that. Walking Dead shows a more dramatic and realistic look to this genre. As survivors get more experienced at dealing with zombies, it becomes trivial and dealing with humans become more important since people are severely effected by this environment. I wish we had more zombie games, comics and tv series like this.
