I imagine Goblins, being notoriously inclusive in culture, to speak a sort of amalgamation of languages, borrowing words and idioms , giving it their own pronunciation and stuff, with little established grammar that probably is irregular as heck.

Yes, sort of. I'm a Northern-Midwesterner. The part of the US that borders Canada, is surrounded by water, and is shaped like a mitten. And yes.

I did a bit of research on a couple of these, actually. The elven language is actually closest to Spanish, while the ingame dwarven language is closest to German. Both sport a heavy English influence, though.

Errr Afrikaans is a german/netherlandian (?) derivative.

But Afrikaans is the dominant language in South Africa. I don't care about the roots. All the cool africans are doin' it!

Well, I've got news: You have a pretty poor claim for having a "neutral accent." The best claim would go to someone in England.

Cool.
I think that Spanish/German influenced English more than the other way around. Makes me glad the Brits got America before it seceded--the language is as much a melting pot as the country was supposed to be.
