So. I decided the MiC was my friend, and it was! So can I use augment crystals? And maybe swap out my cloak for a vest(both of resistance, just there's a cloak that benefits barbarians, but no torso things.).

Crystals are fine, but if there's an existing magic item in one slot that's already appropriate I would prefer if it were kept to that slot.

What do you guys say, should I put my stat increase towards STR or DEX, or maybe something else? Also, Will, do you mind just letting me increase the STR bonus for my bow without buying a new bow, just paying the market price for a +1 STR bonus to damage? Buying a whole new one would be... expensive, to say the least, especially if I enchant my current bow further.

EDIT: Perhaps I should pick up a ___ of STR for more bonus damage if will lets me change my bow's max STR bonus?

No, I ment I was thinking of selling my cloak and getting a vest. That way I can get a cloak of predator's vigor. It lets me heal for twice my HD while in a rage, twice per day. Or perhaps just spend it all on a belt of growth, or perhaps a version that lasts less time but has multiple charges. A Least Iron Ward Diamond and a Least Crystal of Lifedrinking will expand my tankiness that much more...I just need something to make sure they go for ME, instead of you guys. Any magic item that lets me do something like that, that I'm missing? Or will my +18 to Intimidate while raging work?

On another note, is Cleave a good feat to take next level, or is there a different feat that will make me a better tank?

Edit: there's actually rules for increasing a bow's strength level, but I'd suggest dexterity, at least until it's 19. Especially considering there're feats that let you poly dexterity to damage as well as strength.

For a bow-ranger, I'd go with Dex. Accuracy, AC, reflex saves, and initiative versus just damage.

As for Cleave, it's not a tanking skill. It's a "kill more small things in less time" thing. Still, it's a good skill, and considering how many ants Will's been throwing at us, sounds particularly useful in this campaign.

Actually, I know what I want that'll make me a tank. Sadly, I Had to take endurance to get steadfast determination, and only had three feats to spend, otherwise I would have had cleave. I will miss you cleave...I should take reckless rage when I can. Of course, due to the variant build I'm using for the barbarian, can it be adjusted slightly to fit? An addition +1 to fort saves, and another multiplier for my HD to my temp hp per round? X3 instead of x2? That's how greater rage and mighty rage reflect the bonuses in this build, after all. Just a question. In two levels, who knows what we'll be facing?

... Guys, I never designated a favored enemy...

Do you mind if I choose Human?

My char is CN, and I have a rough backstory that supports it...

Just to with magical beast. Or monstruous humanoid. I think magical intelligent ants count as magical beasts(they' animals, but with an Int higher than 2). I don't know if we'll be fighting thm, but magical beats is almost always a safe bet we'll be bassing.

And they're magic. IT should work. The thing is, I never realized this until now. I'm not quite sure how.

No, I ment I was thinking of selling my cloak and getting a vest.

And what I was trying to say was that the cloak exists but that the vest version does not.

... You realize that the cost would be effectively the same, so basically it would be a new magic item with the same stats and cost?

It's more to do with different slots being for specific things. Though an argument could be made that so long as it's not an untyped bonus, the prevention of stacking is assured anyway.

Resistance bonuses do not stack, I found.

Yes, it does, in the Magic Item Compendium. Vest of Resistance. Since vests normally have to do with enhancing class features, or so the DMG says, I would have expected the Predator's Fury or whatever to be a vest, not a cloak, but it is, so I take a 500 gp loss to switch. Unless the GM is kind enough to say that since they're effectively the same, and I simply didn't know there was a vest at first, we can retcon it.

I'm going to double post here and say I'm being a little too pedantic on this point. The vest is acceptable.

Fake edit: Not actually double posting.
