Let's start out with the timing:

Sunday evenings, 9:00pm @ -4 GMT (8PM Eastern US)

IRC: DarkMyst servers / #MistakenDuchy

STORY DETAILS:

The unfortunately named kingdom of Dwyf is usually peaceful. Most of its citizens are in an enforced medieval period, sending food and children off to the cities where they can both be ground up by the mill of pseudo-medieval citylife. And because the material plane that this peaceful kingdom resides in is such a popular destination for all sorts of strange things -- and because strange things often make the best of weapons -- the King of Dwyf is often in search of the latest and greatest toys to use in his wars abroad!

But things are not quite right. You see, the King of Dwyf often has trouble with his dukes. Those pesky dukes are often looking for strange toys of their own to use to usurp him! And that just won't do. In fact, the King has found that one of his dukes has neglected to inform him of a recent discovery in a backwoods region of the kingdom. It seems there is a very large concentration of strange things in a site inside this region. Obviously the King is pretty darn angry about missing out on his dibs. Now he's got to send some strange people of his own to this location to make sure that everything gets sorted out.

His first line of defense -- the Royal Engineering Society (see if 90% of Dwyf's population could tell you what engineering is! (they can't)) -- has gone in first. But they are remarkably unreliable. So you've got to go in as well!

Obviously this is a delicate situation. Obviously there's a good chance that breaking things here could lead to negative consequences down the line. Nevertheless, the King has given you quite a lot of freedom in this situation. You're allowed to resolve things any way you see fit. Just so long as in the end, the King wins, and not Duke Tomaire.

SETTING DETAILS:

There's a lot of leeway for anything in D&D canon to come in here. 90% of the setting is mundane, but the characters are not going to be faced with purely mundane threats very often. The big players in this setting like to whip out strange things as superweapons. Be free-ish, if you want to try something out, just ask, and I'll see what I can do about accommodating.

RULE DETAILS:

D&D 3.5
36 point buy character generation.
Max HP per level.
A single Flaw is allowed.
We're starting at level 2.
Standard wealth rules. (900g)

Other questions that have been answered:
Quote
<Willfor> Psionics are pretty balanced, but I don't want to use the psionic flavour so I may ask any player of them to try to use a magic flavour in their description

I'm pretty open to homebrew as long as I can see it for myself. I may ask to modify it a little after looking at it.

NOTE:
Two slots have already been taken by Wrex and The Fool. I'm probably only looking for three more people, things get very bogged down after more are added. It's not going to be first come, first serve, I'm putting that out there up front.

I've probably not answered all the questions that need to be answered, which is a fair point, so feel free to ask them.

I'll just post my character sheet here.

Ossirrertilbr'tar, the human Ozodrin.

You can call him Ossir. He's the charismatic, bitter, horrifying, man-eating face of the party. He can intimidate people if they aren't being dreadfully helpful.

Ooh, a D&D game? Combat heavy? I have a char I could use for this. Do you guys prefer rogues or wizards? Though I could do fighter (spiked chain).

In any case it would be a battle of critical thinking and I refuse to fight an unarmed individual.

There's going to be a reasonable amount of combat. And by reasonable I mean there's definitely going to be fighting.

We've got a pretty strong melee person already, actually.

If I were to do a psionic, would psicraft double as spellcraft (since you want to keep the magic flavour)?

If someone else wants to play good melee, I could instead use this:

I'd like to join but have a bit of a problem; I don't know any good places that host char sheets(and the one I tried has yahoo addresses banned, and I'm not gonna go through the trouble to create a new email to register with them anyways)

Anywho, I'd like to put in a fighter(with eye towards going Suel Archanamach)

Edit: Scratch that, since rereading leads me to doubt I'd get high enough to go into suel arcanamach. So I'll go cleric with an eye for Radiant Servant of Pelor

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

If you need to sign up with Mythweavers just use my username as a reference, space and all. It should allow you to sign up with a yahoo email.

If you want a reference, I have a char you can base off of as needed.
