Am I Building a Mountain Home?
« on: November 21, 2012, 10:18:02 pm »

That's what the capitol of a Dwarf civ is, right? A mountain home?

If you start as a civ that has no other sites on the map when you embark, are you creating the capitol for that civ?

I ask because I picked a civ for the sole reason of it being the only civ that curiously did not have a site anywhere on my map.

It happens. Dwarves must appear in world-gen, even if they should have been wiped out. No, I do not think you are automatically the mountainhome, you still need to fulfill the requirements. That comes in the next release.

You become the mountain home when you get a baron, promote him or her to a count and then meet all the requirements for King/queen and the king/queen arrives with a retinue.

But if I abandon, my settlement will cease being a mountainhome?
I wonder if there any way to affect world map while in dwarf fortress (discarding the ultimate 4x4 site destruction ofc)?
q 1: if I RAGEtame jabberers so that my civ get some nowledge about them, will i be able to take them in my next embark?
q 1: One of my dorfs (named Dorf1) have killed some Hydras/Rocs/Dragons/tons of gobbos and became an outstanding figure, then I abandon the fortress and start a new one. Is it possible to get an engraving of "Dwarf Dorf1 deceasing Hydra in somesite, someyear"?
q 3: [Adventurer mode] During worldgen there are a lot of sites borning and dying all over the map. Is it possible to start my adventure with a set of sites, play a bit and then realize that there are some new sites appeared during the time i've played.

I can answer the question about the historical figures and the jabberers for you.

The jabberers dont become available on embark I think, but your civ will have an easier time of taming them in future fortresses because of the knowledge you've gained in old ones.

historical figures of your society will get recorded, I believe the more influential the figure, the more likely he is to be engraved. with your hypothetical warrior, im not sure. you might have to be in the same region to get those engravings. like for example, you make a fort in the desert and one of your dorfs kills a hydra. the next fort you founded in that same desert would engrave images of him. the fort in the woods next to the desert wont get engravings of that event.

I believe that you automatically becomes the mountainhome if you offers enough and have enough value in road and bridges, regardless of lack of rulers of civ.

However I've not bothered to try to do it, so I'm not sure how it works in dead civs.

I'm not sure the wiki's actually correct, since it's identical information to 40d, which I know have changed over the time somewhat.

Particularly when barony and higher is set by export and fortress wealth according to the entity raw

Code: [Select]
For the LAND_HOLDER positions below (baron etc.) this sets up the different levels your fort needs to reach to attain them.  LAND_HOLDER_TRIGGER:<land holder number>:<population>:<wealth exported>:<created wealth>

[LAND_HOLDER_TRIGGER:1:20:10000:100000]
[LAND_HOLDER_TRIGGER:2:20:20000:200000]
[LAND_HOLDER_TRIGGER:3:20:30000:300000]

The upgrade seems to be irregular, because sometimes I have exported several millions and created more and I still only have a baron even though few years have passed since I got him.

Have liasions made it to your fortress? I've noticed that not getting liasions pretty much stops upgrading.
