Okay. To say I'm not satisfied with these would be the understatement of the century. But... I've procrastinated enough. I did end up using a tablet, but I looking at them now, I don't know what I've been doing with it.

There's two images, 'cos the other is a scanned-continued-with-tablet one, the other a fully-tablet-made one. I included both mainly because there were some symbols and details I wanted to include but weren't in both. Both are hgnhghghg, and, as you can see, unfinished (sketching still visible, etc., the king in the first just a mess). I started over again 4-5 times, but somehow the original sketch seems the least bad still. *sigh*

(I wish I could say I didn't put effort in these, but I just ran out of steam/got depressed from terribleness.)

Our hero is not in this image, though he was in most versions. He's hiding behind the rocks, somewhere.

Anyway;

I left the caves behind and found a twisting path out of the badlands. But soon I realized I was not alone on the path. With the beating of great wings and the sound of boots on gravel, they came, the proud young king with his battered armies. They marched for the plains - I would have to find another way...

is this still going? the thread seems kind of dead, but i made mine anyways;

edit2: Description:

quiet
in the valley
a good place to rest.

digital hellhound: yours is pretty cool
sounds to me that you are your greatest obstacle though. you should finish it even though you loose steam. its hard, but its very useful to practice pushing through and finish stuff. and even if it comes out bad, you often feel better than if you quit when it becomes hard.

the piece itself is kind of busy. all of those elements need more space around them to give them justice. but i like the concept!
keep at it!

edit: discovered that i accedently went very close to rhesusmacabre piece. maybe its no problem but still annoying

Looks great. Got any description to go along with that?

Oh, and I am always my greatest obstacle. Isn't everyone?

I guess Jopax is next, but we don't seem we have anyone after that. Anyone reading this, do join. No artistic skills whatsoever needed!

Well it was your turn to post, and folks weren't too keen on commenting older works for some reason :S

Yeah, my turn now, I'll try and do a few pieces, hopefully someone will join up by next week :)

And on the last piece. It's great work as always dude, the similarities aren't that great and the idea itself is pretty good. Hopefully I'll be able to do something of similar quality :)

If nobody signs up for next week I can try to do some more paintings.  My legislature is scheduled for session that week, so i don't know how much spare time i'll have.

thanks guys!

Digital: well yes everyone is... i just tried to write something encouraging, cuz i have the same angsty feelings sometimes when i paint. but for me it helps to think " yes its terrible. and thats ok. and i will still finish it", cuz pushing through and keep at it is the only thing that helps in the long run.

anyways forgot to add a description... i add one now. in haiku form.

So, it was a bit forced maybe but I really wanted to do more than a single piece, and start cutting back on the procastrination. Anyways, it has it's flaws and mistakes but I really need to hit the sack and I didn't feel like leaving it unfinished, and I'm probably using textures a bit much :S

"The fort seemed abandoned when I passed by it, but those places seldom are, so I pressed on into the valley. Luck smiled upon me as I found the perfect spot for a camp, there's probably fish in the river too, should make for a refreshing breakfast, and the air just feels so good."

(Also all attempts at digital footwear turn out looking like turds :I )

Our hero's gained a beard! We need to get him to a civilized place for a shave at once!

Ok, this one turned out a bit better I think, even if it did take a lot less time (took a while to get started tho)

"After following the river east for a few days I've found what seems to be its destination, plummeting into the bowels of the earth. It isn't supposed to be like this, something so grand to be cut short by a hole in the ground, but even the greatest things can come crashing down with proper mistakes. The eastern route is still flatlands and hopefully no dangers await me."

Hope to do another piece that could serve as a setup for Vactor and his marshland adventures by the end of my turn. Also really hope someone takes the open slots since my time is going to be rather precious for the next month or so with finals looming over the horizon :C

If nobody's ready by the 17th, I'll make something basic.
I've almost got the last one sorted out.

nice stuff jopax! i liked your second picture more, good perspective and good light/shadow contrast. it makes me think of somekind of massive underground bunker or silo... would be cool if the next person to draw, would take the traveler down that hole for some underground environments.

Well feh, I couldn't make anything (more like couldn't make myself to pick up a pen). So whichever of you wants or however you agree either Robocorn or Vactor gets the next week.

Or no one if no one else signs up. I'll probably be too busy to do much arting anyways.

I'll plan on doing this week, I've got Monday off, so I should have some spare time.  I've been contemplating where to go with this, and have a few ideas for it.

"I ventured out on to the plain. By the second day I was running low on water. With the river gone, and amidst nothing but flatness, I made for a lonely tree on the horizon in hope of water.  As I arrived the plain broke into marshland.  I replenished my supplies and contemplated the new challenge.  I noticed an orange traverser's flag in the distance, and relief washed over me.  Crossing this marsh will only be a matter of coin."

This one was done quickly tonight after work and is slightly simple.  I've got a few others in preliminary sketches, so I think i'll be able to get a few more done.

Well that was rather fast :D

I really like how you did the grass, gives it that big summer on the plains vibe.

Looking forward to your other pieces :D
