Since life got in Sappho's way, I'm taking over management of the Adventurer's Retirement Home. It's a fortress left occupied through DFHack in which legendary heroes can retire in peace.

Original thread

Spoiler: Graphical Tour (click to show/hide)

Game-specific rules:

The objective for each adventurer is to retire in Releasedsouls, the retirement community. The map location will be provided below. Not just anyone can be accepted into the community, however. Only the best of the best will earn a spot! To be accepted to the community, an adventurer must have:

-An item of significance to be contributed to the exhibition hall. Up to you what's considered "significant."
-A title.
-At least 3 legendary skills.
-Discovered or explored at least one "new" location. This can be as simple as discovering and clearing out an animal's lair, or as involved as cleansing an entire dark tower. Also accepted would be exploring a player-made fortress for the first time, finding and completing a labyrinth, finding an entrance to the underworld, etc.

The adventurer must then make their way to the retirement center, put their item on one of the tables in the exhibition hall, claim a room, drop most of their items there to mark it theirs, and retire. YOU MUST RETIRE ONCE YOU MEET THE REQUIREMENTS, IN ORDER TO PRESERVE SOME ADVENTURE IN THE WORLD FOR FUTURE PLAYERS.

The retirement center is STRICTLY NON-VIOLENT. This means you may NOT attack anyone there, and you also may not bring any hostiles into the retirement center such as zombies or bogeymen. If you're not strong enough to fight off the bogeymen yourself before you get there to avoid disturbing the peace, you are probably not good enough to merit retirement anyway. Henchmen are also not allowed unless they somehow also meet the requirements to retire - use your own judgement on that one.

Each turn will last one week. Turns may last a bit longer as long as updates are frequent enough, but that's mostly up to whoever is next on the turnlist.

If your adventurer dies, you may start a second one. If the second adventurer dies, you may start a fort, but please either abandon it or get it killed off when your one-week turn is up.

Rules might be tweaked in the future if necessary.

I'm ready to go, will be gone Wednesday, Thursday, Friday but should still be able to finish.

Ok, got my adventurer. Meet Nemile Cequovafoli. (Know what I just noticed? Sharktangled, crooked teeth, coincidence?)

She's not much for now but after her trials in the wide world  she will head to the retirement home (first elf?). How many people have actually made it back? I can't remember.

One more thing, I changed to Phobeus temporarily cause I don't want to spend extra time getting used to ASCII.

More pictures. I've been training all day, running back and forth on this massive bridge

and then swimming in the river.

Fed up with trying to cram in all that at once (more than halfway to legendary in 4 skills), I head to the dungeons to rack up some kills. Hmm, a kobold in hand and up goes the wrestling skill.

Sorry if I'm spamming you guys. One last update for tonight. Killed every last kobold in the dungeon. In the meantime, my ex-partners have taken up residence in the dungeon themselves. I was running into a room of kobolds when they just stop, either waiting for me to die so they can leave (must have had a pact with the kobolds) or stupid enough to not tell where I went, so now some humans and elves live in that dungeon.

I don't plan on making double posts so I'm just going to modify my current post until someone else posts.

Join us today on Dwarf Fortress Murder Mysteries!

Our first participants were found in a random cave. Four dwarven bodies all piled an top of each other.

Anyone have a clue as to where they came from?

Next up is a random dwarf in the middle of nowhere.

In other news, an elite kobold swordsman was yelling profanities at me for killing his friends.

Either that or telling me he killed those random people I found lying around his camp.

Speaking of more updates. After finding that camp where everyone wasn't dead already and killing the leader, I head over to the lord in the area to finally get a quest. To the far east lies a camp where a bandit by the name of Godan Squeezeleopard must be killed.

Along the way my human companions decide to torture a lion by bashing every part in its body and then its head again and again.

The nearby elephant turns the table and almost kills the humans instead. Here they are lying in pools of their own blood.

As my companions lose me yet again (1600 speed), I finally get my first legendary skill. I can ambush people while running at them now. It sure pays off as bogeymen decide to attack me but since I was hiding in the first place they couldn't find me.

My iron greaves came in handy that battle because they would always aim for my legs.

As I expected, the battle was no probs. That done I think I'll explore the various forts or something. This land is something fierce though, elephants and unicorns living in harmony. Sounds like the best place for me to start my fort once I'm done here.

Oh yeah, loving the title.

Nemile Sharktangles the Tear of Amber.

Wewt! Don't have to be gone for three days like I thought I was supposed to. Anyways, here's an update on my skills and attributes.

Also, massive river I jumped in, been swimming for about half an hour, no ramps up...

At this rate the next skill that will be legendary will be swimming.

After getting out of that river I decide to check out the dungeon in the next town. Let me tell you, it felt like eternity walking through there with the FPS at a constant 10 (was watching video but didn't feel like turning it off), and life flashed before my eyes the moment I walked into this door.

If you can't tell whats going on here, there are two people right next to the door waiting to ambush anyone who gets through and next to them is their captain who appears to be a master bowman. Thank goodness my ambushing skill is so high.

You know, this is getting just slightly annoying... In almost every bag I open are the makings of a copper factory.

Ugh. I think I've had enough of dungeons and sewers for one day. If you guys want to find an olm woman, here's the map and all you need to do is head a little to the right and then in between two buildings is the sewer entrance.

Are you kidding me? I got ambushed by these? SNAIL MEN? Blobobeebus!

False alarm, it was two kobolds behind some trees. Anyways, got my three legendary skills, here they are.

I'm gonna try and bring up misc user up to legendary as well, (double shields for weapons).

Here's my items. A masterful copper crossbow and quiver from the captain.

I have my title and I've discovered countless rivers while also getting on top of a mountain. Currently heading to retirement home.

...Snail man ambush? Seriously? How on earth do they manage that? They should be extremely slow.

Yes, but be very sneaky and careful. You might want to rustle up a huge gang of distractions soldiers before you attack it.

Just came back from fixing a computer. Anyways I'm literally in the middle of nowhere and I crossed so many rivers getting here there is no way any "friends" will make it there. The closest town is almost a week away.

I'll give updates as I battle.

Noticing all the skeletons, I place them all together to find out who they were.

Augh! It breathes !!FIRE!!

I proceed to throw the corpses at it with the grim satisfaction that the people it killed will be its demise.

Sorry guys I forgot to show you its description.

I've been damaging it a bit by now.

That was anticlimactic...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

So your planning to kill me grandpa? Well your old age caught up with you.

Hoho, a yeti? It decided to attack me, I wonder what it tastes like?

Shoot, It's actually one of the hardest opponents I've faced so far, I'm having to dodge and roll away because its almost at fast as I am.

You have fought well young Yeti. In your honor I will take your skull back with me.

Found a secluded Vale in the mountains. About twice as long as shown on this picture.

I am currently traversing the world, seeing as much as possible before I head for retirement. First off is Sweethoney, the Palace of Love.

Another Yeti, not going to bother to place a picture for it. This one is named, Zunek Minesplit.

In the far north west corner of the globe lies a mystery. An ancient temple to an unknown deity, fallen to ruin. Skeletons lie about the area but their killer is nowhere to be found.

Whats this? Found a fort, so far there is a dwarven baby and a fish cleaner by the name of Nish Mosuskan, a Chief Medical Dwarf by the name of Litast Windentered, an Architect by the name of erith Numberwheels, an Expedition Leader by the name of Datan Tingales, ect... Here's a picture of the actual place and one of em.

Heres the second floor of the fort.

Having no access to the lower floors I head out only to be ambushed by bogeymen, the nearby dingoes decide to step in and help me trash  the bogeymen.

Any requests as to what I should do before heading over and retiring?

Well if you meet all the requirements, you should probably head over and retire before you clear the entire land of quests. Or you could try and enter Dikelures. >.>

Yeah, I feel I've met the requirements. I'm currently drowsy and crossing a land filled with zombies...

For those looking for a quest, there is a goblin boss in the catacombs of tongueslapped? Strange name.

This is my favorite way of killing bogeymen.

And no I am not a vampire, nor a necromancer nor a were and not a husk either. Just plain old elf.

Yep, rip em to shreds with my teeth and then throw said parts at them.

Another quest for you guys, in the town of Grizzlysquids is Orid Inkedwhispered the overlord. He is in Slowumbras the catacombs.

I head inside a cave next to an abandoned fort. Everywhere on the ground are dead kobolds, it appears this was their treasure cave. I head deeper into the depths a lone young kobold blocks the way. He was the last in this cave.

I'm at Dikelure. The ground is covered in ashes and Woah that's a lot of weapon traps.

I would hate to run that gauntlet.

I feel like a nub but isn't it possible to pull levers in adventure mode? And if so how? Through I? That isn't giving me any options.
Nvm, figured it out. Use u on a lever.

I find it amusing to report my success to a ghost.

Oh sh*t. I am currently running for my life as a ghostly hammerdwarf is chasing me.
Ha! Disaster averted. I have two ghost recruits now lol.

Hmm, did this little beasty take your fort down?

Will I survive this fight? Lets find out.

Meh, flame monsters aren't all that strong.

Did a stupid thing there. Tried to take his flame with my so my upper fat started melting. When I woke up it was no longer there, in the meantime I found the mayor on a lower level hiding from an ash specter. Said ash specter is dead now.

I'm taking a big risk here, and if I die I probably deserve it because I used reveal to get to the spire. Way too long to get there otherwise, I'm sorry guys.

Now question is, should I be the first elf in hell or do I head home?

...If you fall in there's no way up. Just so you know. I dug straight to a hole. And you should probably head for ReleasedSouls, to be fair. Although if you could retrieve all of Dikelures' priceless artifacts for the fort that'd be great.

EDIT: Wait, you found the mayor? He was last seen locked up in a room by a chain. Where he'd spent three years with no interaction. Because, you know, he's a vampire.
