Due to the lack of consensus, I'll make an executive decision here.
You come into the world with naught but a whisper and a gust of freezing air. Looking at your surroundings, you find yourself in an underground tunnel. Dim lights are strung along the walls and you can feel the presence of dozens of humans not far above. You examine yourself and see your true form, and nearly startle yourself. You are a tangled, impossible mass of shadow made up of thousands of twisted branches of darkness. Impossibly long claws stretch from what passes for arms, and your head and body are an inhuman contradiction, missing from reality but visible all the same. In darkness, you would be nearly imperceptible, a mere slithering in the desolate, dim tunnels of the mine. You are the shadows, as everyone fears the dark.
You feel a need, two needs actually. The first... is a name. What shall you call yourself?
The second is hunger. You are perfectly capable of feeding off of fear and despair, but there is precious little of that to go around. In addition, a proper meal would do good for your complexion.
Location: Mining tunnels of Karst, a small colony on the surface of Mars
Thoughts: Food....
Observations: The mines appear to have a considerable atmosphere. Human miners may come down at some point, but you don't have a sense of time at the moment. You hope they don't have a priest up there.
Power:
Physical power: 5 (You have the strength of five men, and in the dark you could easily take on an individual human.)
Mental power: 5 (You can pry into the surface of human minds, reading base emotions. You could probably break a man, given some effort, turning him into a gibbering wreck or worse. You can invade dreams to some degree, planting fleeting images of whatever you like.)
Decisions: What is my name? What should I do? Wait for prey? Go closer to the surface? Something else?
