Their bright minds turned to other avenues of research, and they turned their attention to space hoping it a place more peaceful then their home.

Hundreds of space stations were built, and advances made as Argonian moved into the void beyond Earth, circling above they formed a small society hoping to survive whatever true collapse awaited. But soon enough they found themselves wrong and the noble houses began to wage war among themselves, House Argonian with its armies of drone, and stations in the safety of space was the first to fall, and it fell to treachery. Now driven from their old home in void near Earth they seek a new place to call home ...

Name : Sinaed Alamot
Faction name : Royal marines incorporated

Short description : The remnants of the British royal marines who upon seeing what was going to happen broke off and formed a private military company and began bringing in soldiers from all over Britain to form it's own private army for sale to the highest bidder, they maintain the exceptional standards of conduct and military training that was drilled into them before they deserted.

History : Sinaed has led them for a long time, The former chief military officer had died some 15 years before and Sinaed was elected to lead in his place.
In the years following this Sinaed has used his companies substantial wealth and connections to outfit a small army and has even gaind the schematics and a few working models of gunships, and tanks to support his predominantly infantry fighting force.
Sinaed unlike most of his men has a deep sense of loyalty and will never brake a contract once it has been signed, his men being loyal to him to the point of insanity by extension will carry out any contract no matter the cost, as proven by an event 5 years previously when 150 of his men who had been hired to defend a facility was wiped out after a 2 week long siege and multiple offers to leave peacefully by the attackers.
In his Sinaed's name they had fought to the last man and taken thousands of enemies down with them. The bodies had not been retured and shortly after this a swift and brutal campaign was launched to recover those bodies and in the space of 2 weeks over 15000 men were killed and the bodies recovered to be buried with honor.

Name: Admiral Mask
Name faction: Neptune's Hand
Happiness: 80%
Short description: Brutal and Chaotic Buccaneers. On earth they controlled an extensive piracy and drug empire and all but dominated coastal regions throughout the 3rd world. They have no uniform, prefering instead to dress up as Native Americans, Vikings, Classic Pirates, Mongols, or in any other intimidating costume they can find or make.

History: The story of the origins of Neptune's Hand is convoluted and blurred. Some say they started as animal rights activists who grew bored of sparring with whaling ships and turned to piracy. Other's say their leader was a Mafia Don from Sicily, mutilated and humiliated in a failed hit, who took to robbing the shipments of those who wronged him. Others still claim they started as Islamisit Movement and eventually abandoned their ideals for the sheer joy of causing chaos and pain.

Their leader Admiral Mask is a man truly feared. His face is always concealed by one of his many fancy masks, many of which sport intimidating special effects such as smoke or flame. Before the Unity Left he was feared more than the devil himself in some of the poor costal regions of the world.

Once the Unity was in flight rumors started to spread that the Hand had infiltrated the ship, living in deep in the infrastructure and engine rooms, far from the habitation decks, coming up only to raid briefly before vanishing once more. Most dismissed these rumors as folk tales, but those working security or maintenance would swear them to be true.

The believers were proven right at the height of the internal war for the colony pods, when the Hand emerged from the woodwork en-mass, taking everyone by shock and carving a blood path to their pod of choice, which they loaded with drug seeds from earth and boats assembled from the Unity's inner workings (perhaps causing the malfunctions that crippled the ship in the first place).

It would seem unlikely that Admiral Mask would have lived long enough to survive the trip, or indeed would have even been willing to leave his empire on earth; but somebody just as mysterious and brutal seems to have inherited the man's name and rank.

The Vanguard

You have waited years for this day, when you would finally set foot on another world. Having secured several Colonypods some time ago, it wasn't hard to get of the ship unhindered. However, while five of the pods managed to survive the orbital deburn and land intact, the third had some problems and ended up in the river. The people have been evacuated, but damage to the pod is severe, and it's unlikely that the onboard systems will function. The other pods should be fine though, and can be converted to form the center of what hopefully will be a succesful colony.

HTI

Thanks to your advanced knowledge of the ship and it's layout, you managed to secure one of the ships massive cargoshuttles. You stocked most of the ships valuable equipment in it, before departing for the surface. You also managed to secure 4 colony pods. Seeing a good settlement opportunity, you decide to land on an island in the delta. This went well for the cargo shuttle and 2 of the colony pods, but 2 others landed a bit to close to the water, and started to sink rapidly into the mud. Luckily the humans all got out alive, and most of the important equipment was being kept in the cargo shuttle anyways.

Followers of the Machine God

You don't know why, but the Machine God has made it quite clear that you should move to the surface of the planet. As such you grab as much equipment as possible, including the ship's main spare part replicator, and loaded it into the other shuttle. For your destination, you have chosen a promising set of mountains, that appear to contain large amounts of ore, as well as another machine entity. Aside from the shuttle, you have managed to secure a single colony pod.

Unfortunately, reentry wasn't that easy. During the landing, the cargo shuttle hit a rock and crashed. While heavily damaged, the cargo and people aboard appear to be alright.

House Argonian

For the entire duration of the flight, House Argonian has lived more or less secluded from the rest of the ship. Using advanced drones to guard their borders, they managed to claim and control an entire section of the ship. However, not even they could escape the decay of their ships systems, and as such they eventually had to evacuate. Taking advantage of all 15 colony pods connected to their section they managed to bring everyone down with ease, and also have them a large advantage for the future.

The Lawmakers

The rebellion was bloody. It all started when those damned pirates came through and effortlessly broke through your defenses. Know that the people had seen how weak your position was, it was only a matter of time. You were caught defenseless, and had heavy losses on the way to the pods. Not the colony pods, since those had been hijacked already. Your were forced to use the escape pods. Nevertheless, you managed to make it too the surface relatively intact, and probably without anyone else knowing.

Royal Marines Incorporated

While you'd managed to keep relative order and peace in your section of the ship, you did eventually have to evacuate. Parts of the ship were falling apart, and lifesupport was horrible at best. So you hauled everything into the colony pods and departed to what looked like a city on the surface. That's when disaster struck, one of the colony pods failed it's reentry. The heat burned through the hull and the thing exploded. The resultant debris took 3 more pods with it. All in all 2000 people died on the first day of your settlement, and lots of equipment was lost.

The surviving pods managed to land in the city, with varying degrees of succes. Upon further exploration it was found that the city was completely abandonned. While most was habitation space, a small power generator and a production facillity were also found.

Neptune's Hand

Breaking through the suprised guards wasn't much of  a problem. Getting a destroyer from orbit to the surface was. Nevertheless, you ingeniously solved that by modifying one of the colony pods, allowing it to land and float on water. While it's not much more than a hollow shell now, it makes a good harbour for your ships, and served it purpose well.

Other

Much more Colony pods have descended from the skies, often people trying to build an isolated settlement. It will be the question if they manage to succeed in this endevour.

After a brief discussion, it was decided that we should dig in.  Unfortunately we don't have any tools that would allow us to, so we decided to make some.
Dedicate 50 engineers and 50 technicians to getting the ships factory up and running, then use the microwaves/fans/toasters to be turned into construction tools.
Dedicate 100 technicians to scavenging for nearby food, fresh water, and arable soil; as well as finding this other entity.
Dedicate 5 techs and 5 engi's to diagnosing the problems with the shuttle
Have the rest disassemble the colony pod/inspect it for any available tools

"Mark Dixon's Journal"
We landed. We survived. We'll get a chance to create new humanity. Me and my brothers are free at last. They used us, to fight in their damned wars. They called as "a biological fighting unit" But now we will set the laws. But first things first, we have almost no supplies and no tools except some combat knifes. Time to put our slaves to work

50 Soldiers - scout nearby areas\hunt big animals (don't waste power\ammo at small game)
50 Soldiers - cut trees (using laser guns as improvised  cutting tools)
100 soldiers, 100 male slaves, 100 female slaves - drag trees to the settlement
100 soldiers, 800 female slaves : Gather anything that look edible or useful. Top priorities: - lianas, firewood, insulation\waterproof materials

Having landed, the new colonists immediately began working.

The solar panels and pre-fabs were brought out and put online.
The surrounding life was catalogued and observed.
The fields were plowed and worked.
And the labourers began work on the underground section of the settlement.

500 skilled workers and 1500 labourers are to build the settlement.
1500 scientists will begin researching the terraformed life.
300 scientists and 400 soldiers will begin scouting out the surrounding area.
1500 labourers will begin creating crop fields and farms.
The soldiers and technicians will make rounds around the settlement so as to keep the settlement in working order.
All remaining colonists are to work on digging out an underground area. Collect all minerals found.

The people of House Argonian set about their work immediately with Narsean Argonian himself setting to help ready the place that would be their new home, many people held fear that this world would turn to war just like the last. Narsean told them that would not happen this time, this time a true peacekeeper would be made from House Argonian, and so they set to the work they knew they must do.

100 People begin a small mining operation with the gear at hand.
50 People go out to scout the lands nearby in pairs of two with a drone per person, and wielding some of the outdated weapons on hand.
100 People take up the outdated arms in the name of protecting their families. (Outdated Weapons Cash used up, Argonian Militia founded)
200 People set up the Pre-fab Hydroponics facility and set to work within.
Everyone else begins to unload the remainder of the supplies and begins to make a settlement in and around the colony pods.

Send all snipers to the outskirts of the town. have them take up elevated positions within the fence wall in groups of 5, if anybody approaches the town they report it to the tank perimeter immediately then prepare to fire if any hostile actions are taken.

Send all marines, heavies and infantry to sweep the town to ensure no unknown entities are within it, if any are found they are to be brought to the royal marines in the center of town, the soldiers are then with the assistance of 3000 civilians to build a 10 ft high turf wall around the entire town and along the rivers edge leaving a 25 ft wide gap in the center of the wall on each of the 4 sides, they are to use earth from outside the wall to make a trench directly beneath the wall and make the wall entirely flat on the outside and slant the inside so it can be climbed only from within, the gap in the wall along the river is to be in line with the pod closest to the river.

Gunships are to be manned and lift off 12 are to split into groups of 3 then each group heads in a different direction, they are to head 50 miles out then search the entire area between 50 miles and 30 miles out before returning to camp, the remaining 10 are to split into groups of 10 and cover the area between the turf wall and the 30 mile area searching it all, they are to return before dark and report everything they find.

All tanks are to form an outer perimeter beyond the wall being dug, if approached they give 1 warning then open fire.

The royal marines and myself are to locate the town center, secure it and ensure it is operational then bring in all
laboratory and logistical equipment and set it up immediately with 10 support staff to instruct them on how to set it all up, all medical equipment is to be left sealed except basic medical kits and stored in the buildings basement.

100 support staff are to inspect the power facility and if possible bring it online.

100 support staff are to inspect the production facility and if possible bring it online.

Groups of 190 support staff and 280 civilians are to locate 4 pods and convert them into production facilities, once done they are to locate 4 damaged pods, remove all internal systems intact then strip those pods and use the systems and materials to bring the 4 new facilities online using the ready built facilities machinery to convert the systems and materials into parts for the new 4.

The remaining 130 civilians and 10 support staff are to run the ready made facility once it is online, the staff instructing the civilians on how to operate it.

The final 20 support staff are to survey the town and bring me a report on how many buildings are already constructed down to the last outhouse.

To: Captain Lance Cook
From: Admiral Mask
RE: Early orders for the settlers

Welcome to planet side. We have a long and prosperous future of making the future of others short and miserable ahead of us. Our forces are small, but our ambition huge. For the duration of the now I am leaving you in charge of our land based holdings and civilians while I work the fleet.

I will be following the coast south at the helm of the Destroyer; I will take 25 raiders and the rest of the jobs aboard will be taken care of by unskilled laborers. We will be taking inventory of nearby coastal settlements, for future reference. I don't expect anybody to be ballsy enough to attack a destroy unprovoked, so the two interceptors will be left to defend our people.

Your duty now is to get us set up. For now the people will sleep at sea on the floating colony pod or the boats. I doubt at this point any land based attack could reach us or naval force could best us. Send the people ashore during the day to work. Keep enough unskilled workers and Raiders around to man the interceptors for defense, but deploy the rest inland in groups to search for resources.

The skilled laborers should focus on farming. Get the Cocca planted first, we can eat that. If there is time after that plant the poppies. Opium is a powerful diplomatic and economic tool for dealing with those too well defended to raid.

On a final note, I believe that big Tech Company that built the ship settled just north of us at the mouth of the river. Their people vastly outnumber our own, so I think we shall try to be good neighbors... to them at least.

RE: Lets not murder each other...

We are neighbors (I think based on the written descriptions of our locations. If not, disregard this message) I have a destroyer. You have a huge population that could potentially overwhelm us. Should we fight the consequences would be rather nasty for the both of us. I cordially invite you to stay alive and sign a 'lets not fuck with each other' pact.

I do think that in the long run an alliance between a large faction with research and industrial capabilities, and a hardened group of raiders makes sense. I will not however ask you to consider that now, after all you can't be expected to trust bastards like us right off the bat.

Cheers,

Simple plan.

Have robots and all able-bodied persons (CEO and family included, if able-bodied) assemble some sort of temporary base from the pods and such. Then, take an inventory of supplies.

If the construction is not needed, open various files on such things as farming, power generation, and construction while sending out teams of able-bodied  volunteers to scout the area.

The Vanguard

After the intial amazement of actually setting foot on an alien world, the colonists get to work. As the days pass the settlement slowly grows, centered around the 5 colony pods. Solar pannels are put down on the roofs, and wires are hung between them. The now emptied colony pods are then used as storage sites, were the scientists and hunters gather their prey, in order to prepare it for research. Amongst many normal terran species, there are also several unique specimens. This includes a large species of semiaquatic turtles, a variant on the komodo dragon and unfortunately, what appears to be a very persistant rodent, who have apparently infested your supplies. No permanent damage has been done yet, but the abundance of food might result in the escalation of the problem to a real plague.

The surroundings ... ( Please give a location on the world map)

Outside the ring of solar pannels that marks the end of the colony center, the ground is being plowed and farms are being erected. A variety of fields and plains has been prepared, from small field usefull for herbs, to larger fields to be used for mono, or duo crop rotations. Part of the fields have been installed next to the river, so that they be flooded for irrigation.
Quite a bit further, progress on the digsite had to be halted. While the work progressed well, a groundwater flood has undermined the fundaments and caused a partial collapse. The people have been evacuated in time, but all work on the site was lost.

HTI

Attempts to pull the colony pods from the water have been met with partial succes. Lifting the pods using the cargo ship is certainly a possibility, but the first one cracked and disintegrated under the pressure. The second one was lifted without much problems. The pods have been reconverted into a temporary base. Two have been turned into habitation, the other into an  fieldheadquarters.

Supplies are varried. While are food supplies are rather low, our technological supplies are great. We got a robotic workforce of 400 bots, enough computers to let them work, several labratories worth of equipment, a pocket fusion power generator and a nuclear fuel cell as well production facilities for a variety of goods. We just need to put them together.

The surroundings appear to be mostly endless plains, and you haven't found any interesting features except for the river yet. You do get an interesting message via a shortwave radio frequency (shortwave is shortrange right)

Followers of the Machine God

The factory is installed, and is immediatly set to work. A variety of construction tools are created.
Finding food or arable soil in the surroundings of barren mountains is hard, but the valley's down beneath are certainly fertile, and the mountain rivers are filled with fish. The construction that was seen from the ship has also been observed more closely. While you couldn't get too close due to it's location, you did find out that it appears to be running, but you haven't seen a single human being nearby.
There's a variety of problems with the cargo shuttle. One of the engines has sucked in rocks, shredding the innards of the engine. Secondly, the wing has made a rather hard collision with the ground, possibly endangering the structural integrity.

The pod has been disassembeled, leaving only the outer shell which is currently used as protection for the fabricator installed inside.

House Argonian

The mining team immediatly struck gold. Or iron to be accurate. Preliminary scouting revealed a very accesible ore vein, and as such your miners have immediatly set to work exploiting it. Further exploring teams find nothing of interest though.
In order to protect the fledgeling colony, a militia is formed and outfitted, and they immediatly start training. In order to prevent a possible famine, the hydroponics installation is quickly installed.

The others quickly unload the remaining supply, and soon a settlement is founded. Mostly in the colony pods, but partially outside in improvised houses made from pannels taken from the pods.

The Lawmakers

Scouting of the surrounding area went well. It appears we landed in a dense jungle, though some parts of it are easily traversible. Even more lucky for us, there appear to be varying sorts of big wild. This should ensure our food supply for a while. Especially the giant lizard shops were good, and the snake wasn't wrong either.
Using lasers, (and sometimes even brute force for the smaller trees) we managed to make a small clearing for ourselves. It provides enough place for a firepit and some buildings, but won't be seen from the outside.
The others have been sent on various gathering missions, and while some thought this to be the prime opportunity to attempt an escape, they certainly underestimated our natural camouflage.

Unfortunately, we ate our last food yesterday, so we'll be completely dependent on hunting from now on.

Royal Marines Incorporated

The town was secured, and it was indeed found that it was completely uninhabited. Most buildings are just empty shells, with no furniture or anything to hint at their purpose.
Construction of a wall has been completed, and the town is now firmly under our control. The tanks outside the perimeter serve only to outline that purpose.
Gunships were send out, but harsh weather conditions, like a persistent fog forced them to return early. Nevertheless, they have scouted the immediate vicinity, finding no other life, nor anything interesting.
No town center was found, so you decide to set up the Headquarters in one of the pods, that just happened to land near the center of town. Not only is it already connected, it also has better armor than the buildings.
Getting the power production plant online was rather simple. One press on the button did the trick. Apparently, it's a fusion generator, but with a small hydroelectrical power plant to start it up.
Getting the production facility online is harder. It appears that it was only partly finished, though finishing the job was easy, thanks to a few spare parts from the pods. Sadly, this delayed the rest of the orders, and as such no pods could be converted.

Most of the buildingblocks appear to be rather tall, between 5 and ten stories on average. On the outskirts of town, there are a few smaller buildings, though their construction hints that they're simple not finished yet.

(for settlement stats see the players thingies near the OP)

Neptune's Hand

You find a total of 3 settlements nearby. There's the HTI settlement to the East, but there are also 2 smaller settlements to the west.

Searching finds nothing interesting, just endless plains. However, one of your workers did manage to find (read fall into) a water source. The source's not polluted, and he's fine. There's also some reports from large animals inland, though you're not able to place them. It does reminds you of the beings that once used to inhabit the African Savannah. At least, they seemed similair to those you saw in the color books when you were a kid.

((Next turn will hopefully see more action, since several new mechanics will be activated, also don't forget to check yhr post just just under the Op for your stats))
